SCM REVOLUTIONISES THE WORLD OF NESTING

The new Morbidelli range, designed to increase speed and flexibility in shaped panel cutting, will be presented at the next “Smart&Human Factory” Open House event
SCM will be hosting from the 31st January through to 2nd February 2019, in the Technology Center of its Rimini Headquarters, an Open House event named“Smart&Human Factory” for the launch of a new, advanced production model, with digital and automation systems designed to enable advanced man-machine interaction and 360-degree control over the entire production flow.
During the event, the new range of Morbidelli CNC Nesting machining centres will be previewed to the world: they apply top performance, 5-axis “all-in-one” technology to dedicated solutions for Nesting machining processes, in line with the requirements of a market that is increasingly oriented to “Batch 1” production, and therefore needs to combine high speed and outstanding flexibility in panel cutting patterns.
From the worktop to the drilling heads, from the footprint – increasingly less invasive, smarter and more functional, to the innovative machine tool magazine for tool changeover in record time: every detail in these machines, including the restyled design, has been implemented with the utmost accuracy and care, for the purpose of ensuring all the necessary performance, efficiency, quality and business growth potential.
“The new Morbidelli machining centres have been designed on the basis of market feedback. All the most popular innovations of m100 and m200 Morbidelli work centres have been transferred to these new designs” – confirms Bruno Di Napoli, the SCM Machining Centres BU Manager. “The new, highly innovative range is the perfect solution for the vast majority of larger and smaller furniture manufacturers.”
With their improved-performance feeding magazines, different safety system options to meet any needs, and greater machining precision for even the most complex items, our new generation of Morbidelli machining centres can fulfil the requirements of the most demanding customers. Featuring the Maestro software suite, they can also be equipped with automated loading and unloading systems and used both in cell and in stand-alone versions.

A “SMART” AND “HUMAN” FACTORY
At the SCM’s Open House event, a practical demonstration of the unique performance of our new range will be delivered: a nesting cell supplemented by automation and industrial and collaborative robotics systems will deliver a real time representation of the production process of different types of cabinet. In particular, according to the new SCM “Smart&Human Factory” model, operators at the Rimini Technology Center will be assisted during the various panel processing stages (nesting, edge-banding, drilling, dowelling hardware insertion, glue dispensing, finishing and assembly) by industrial anthropomorphic robots for risky and low added-value tasks, by collaborative robots (cobots) for the final process stages and by AMR – Autonomous Mobile Robots to carry panels from one island or cell to the next. The entire work process will be coordinated by the Maestro Watch Supervision Software – monitoring the state of each of the products being machined throughout the process, and by the IoT Maestro Connect system – which collects and analyses SCM technology data, ensuring on the one hand full control over the production flow and, on the other, the implementation of smart predictive maintenance models.
Alongside the new dedicated Nesting and automation products, at the SCM Technology Center over fifty models for each industrial production process will be on display during the Open House event: from Accord, Superset and Balestrini technologies for solid wood to the best-selling machines for small-sized carpentry businesses L’invincibile and Minimax; from Gabbiani cutting machines to Stefani and Olimpic models for edge-banding, all the way to Surface finishing and painting systems.
