NOMINATED FOR THREE IFOY AWARDS

Jungheinrich has been nominated in 2019 for a total of three IFOY AWARDS. This was announced today by the jury in Ismaning, near Munich. For yet another year, this makes Jungheinrich the company with the most nominations in the IFOY competition. The nominees were the world’s first reach truck with an integrated ETV 216i lithium-ion battery, the STC 2B1A stacker crane for small parts and the zoneCONTROL assistance system. The IFOY Awards 2019 will be presented on April 26 at the Hofburg in Vienna.

Christian Erlach, member of the Jungheinrich board for sales and marketing: “Three nominations at the IFOY are again proof of Jungheinrich’s innovative strength in intralogistics. We are a mechanical engineering company, logistics system provider and software developer in one. With our highly innovative and efficient logistics solutions, we maximise the benefits for our customers.”

Nominated in the category “Warehouse Truck”: ETV 216i

The ETV 216i is the world’s first reach truck with standard built-in lithium-ion battery. Jungheinrich consistently used the advantages of this space-saving and efficient battery technology in the development of the truck. Because of this, the ETV 216i has a revolutionary truck design. The latest generation of reach trucks features significantly improved ergonomics. Jungheinrich incorporated its customer’s ideas and requests directly into the design of the truck. Thus, the ETV 216i offers the operator significantly more freedom of movement and perfect all-round visibility, resulting in a remarkably high level of user-friendliness and maximum safety in the warehouse. Thanks to its especially compact design, the truck features maximum agility in the warehouse. Compared to conventional reach trucks, the ETV 216i achieves a significant increase in warehouse productivity. Compared to conventional lead-acid batteries, the fully integrated lithium-ion batteries feature a longer service life, maintenance-free operation and better performance. This increases throughput performance and warehouse efficiency. Especially short charging intervals enable 24/7 operation, with the ETV 216i able to stack loads weighing up to 1600 kg to a lift height of 10.7 meters.

Nominated in the category “AGV & Intralogistics Robot”: Miniload STC

The STC is Jungheinrich’s first internally developed high-performance miniload. The latest technologies and its innovative design ensure peak performance while boosting efficiency and optimising costs for inhouse logistics. To achieve this, three new patents were implemented in the new miniload: an innovative mast design for top scalability of the equipment up to 25 metres and maximum stability despite lightweight construction; an innovative travel rail concept for minimised approach dimensions; and an integrated Omega drive system for even more space-saving storage.

The STC is the most powerful miniload of its class. With a travel speed of more than 6 metres per second and top acceleration, it ranks as the very best of high-performance equipment. It also has energy buffers specially adapted to efficient goods handling called “SuperCaps”. They store energy released during braking processes and feed it back into the drive system during acceleration. In this way, Jungheinrich has been able to reduce the energy requirement and especially the necessary connected load of the stacker crane by up to 25 percent compared to the competition.

Jungheinrich has also designed the STC for maximum efficiency in terms of space utilisation. Due to the innovative design of the travel rail and the Omega drive system – unlike other miniloads it is integrated into the foot of the mast – the system achieves the lowest approach dimensions in its class. In comparison to all other miniloads on the market, Jungheinrich makes it possible for its customer’s to achieve a significantly higher storage capacity with the STC together with higher throughput for a warehouse of comparable size. Another innovation is the new modular mast design. With lightweight construction it ensures especially high stability of the equipment while also allowing for flexible scalability up to 25 meters.

Nominated in the category “Intralogistics Software”: zoneCONTROL

Jungheinrich aims at enhancing the protection of the operators, machines, goods and storage facilities. The new zoneCONTROL assistance system increases safety at the most critical points in the warehouse. The system consists of a radio module on the truck as well as radio beacons that are installed at selected locations in the warehouse. A circular transmission field is established around the beacons. Depending on the distance to such a beacon, the radio module mounted on the vehicle triggers responses such as braking the vehicle. zoneCONTROL is based on Ultra Wide Band (UWB) radio technology, which allows for even greater accuracy of up to a few centimetres.
