KBR Kompensationsanlagenbau is the specialist for operational energy management. In other words, the specialist for all products and solutions to reduce energy consumption and costs in the industry. The company is a family business, founded in 1976 and located in Schwabach, Germany. They currently have more than 120 employees and are still growing.
Interview with Jessica Tempelmeier, Marketing Manager at KBR Kompensationsanlagenbau GmbH.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Jessica Tempelmeier: We have five main areas of activity. Reactive power compensation and energy optimization systems reduce energy costs by decreasing reactive energy and the power peak. The energy data management system and measurement technology help to identify weak points and to use the primary energy more efficiently. Another area of KBR’s work is power quality. With the help of active and passive harmonic filters, mains disturbances are eliminated, thus also increasing operational safety.
With our expertise within this field, we offer courses and online seminars to educate companies and technicians in operational energy management.
We also have an experienced service team. With our hotline support and on-site service we ensure that our customers have no worries and all their questions are answered.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
J.T: We are developing and optimizing our products and services continuously. Thanks to our own development team we can respond concretely to market needs and customer feedback.
Two examples out of the range of our new products are:
In the area of energy optimization our intelligent gateway multisio IGW was specially developed for the connection of loads to be controlled in energy optimization systems. It is therefore the perfect choice for integrating charging columns, battery storage and other controllable components that require information exchange or conversion between multiple protocols.
In the area of energy management there will be soon an updated and optimized version of our energy management software “visual energy”.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
J.T: The range of our products is huge. As we fabricate our products in our own manufacture, we offer the whole range: from standardized products to products that are specially designed based on the requirements and needs of our customers.
This is essential as our products and services are important for every type of industry, from a small bakery to an international large-scale enterprise.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
J.T: The energy management market is still growing. Over the last years the worldwide importance and awareness for the topic of energy efficiency has risen, because of the immense challenges due to Covid-19, material availability and price increases. However, the probably biggest challenge here is the availability of trained and educated personnel to manage the requests for professional energy management services.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
J.T: The last few years have brought enormous challenges, especially due to material availability and price increases. The high energy prices are a big challenge, but also our opportunity, as we support companies in reducing consumption and costs of energy in all forms, such as electricity, gas, compressed air, water, etc. Therefore, we see an increased trend towards the demand for solutions that support companies at saving energy costs and reducing energy consumption through higher energy efficiency.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
J.T: We expect that the importance of operational energy management solutions for the industry will keep rising. Hence, we continue to respond to the specific requirements in the industry sector and keep on developing and optimizing products and services for the operational energy management. Our strong commitment to the sustainable and efficient use of energy will support us in our goal to help companies worldwide to increase their energy efficiency and thus their sustainability.
