AIK TECHNIK – YOUR SYSTEM SUPPLIER FOR RESIDUE TREATMENT AND RECOVERY OF RECYCLABLE MATERIALS

AIK Technik is a Swiss plant manufacturer with a focus on processes for residue treatment with resource recovery. Since 1998, the company has developed innovative technologies and implemented systems for many customers in Switzerland and Europe.

Interview with Danny Langenberg, Managing Director at AIK Technik AG.

Easy Engineering: A brief description of the company and its activities.

Danny Langenberg: AIK Technik AG is the plant manufacturer for residual waste treatment and recovery of recyclable materials. Conscious of our duty, we contribute to reducing the environmental impact for the next generations and to achieve the best sustainability through our special processes and technologies in the different fields. Our innovative technologies form the basis for the exemplary, economic and ecological recovery of recyclable materials. Thus, we offer you the opportunity to also make an active contribution to global resource and climate protection with our processes.

Laboratory

Thanks to our own independent laboratory, we are always in a position to carry out expert laboratory and operational analyses and to provide our customers with competent support and assistance in troubleshooting, as well as process and operational optimization. We use different analytical methods (water, solids), which are successfully applied in the optimization of existing processes, as well as in the application of new process developments.

Assembly, after-sales service, and maintenance

We have our own spare parts warehouse and assembly team. Services are therefore available and ready for use at any time. Our after-sales service with the delivery and management of spare and worn parts is an integral part of our quality management.

E.E: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

D.L: As a system supplier, we provide the complete package of a total contractor, from engineering and planning to commissioning. We are specialized in treatment plants for soils and excavated material, as well as for sewer and drilling sludge using modern clarification technology and flexible systems for drainage. We also have a new process for the optical sorting of gravel, which is an optimal addition, especially for construction material recycling. Furthermore, we offer an innovative world novelty for the optimal treatment of bottom ash from waste incineration – the Leaching Reactor. We also provide all components for solid waste incineration plants, such as FAW (acid fly ash washing), zinc recovery, mercury separation, and wastewater treatment.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

D.L: We have developed new products aimed at always being at the cutting edge of technology and meeting the increasing expectations of our customers. In doing so, we place particular emphasis on meeting the requirements of sustainability and environmental protection. Our goal is to offer products that are not only technologically advanced, but also make a positive contribution to the environment.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

D.L: The market for sustainability and recycling spans several areas, including green technologies, recyclable materials, waste management and more. New companies are emerging and existing companies are expanding their operations to meet the growing demand in these areas.

Overall, it can be said that the market for sustainability and recycling continues to grow strongly and offers much potential for future development and innovation. It is hoped that this growth will help to shape a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

D.L: The market for environmental technologies is expected to continue to grow in the coming years. There are several reasons driving this growth:

Sustainability efforts: Businesses, governments, and consumers are increasingly recognizing the importance of sustainability and environmental protection. Environmental technologies offer solutions to reduce environmental impact, save energy, and be resource efficient.

Regulatory requirements: Environmental regulations and standards are becoming more stringent worldwide. Companies must take measures to minimize environmental impacts and meet regulatory requirements. This is creating increasing demand for environmental technologies and services.

Technological advances: Advances in areas such as renewable energy, waste management, and water and air pollution control are contributing to innovative solutions and more efficient technologies.

International focus: Many countries around the world have become aware of pressing environmental issues and have committed to taking action to combat climate change and create a sustainable future. This is leading to increased investment in environmental technologies.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

D.L: Our latest innovation is the Leaching Reactor for bottom ash processing, which we have launched as a world novelty. The Leaching Reactor was developed to extract the pollutants from bottom ash by applying a special acid treatment. Through this innovative process, we once again demonstrate our pioneering spirit and ability to innovate.

The application of the Leaching Reactor for bottom ash processing has a positive impact both on the environment and on the costs of the treatment plants. The process reduces environmental impact by effectively removing pollutants from the bottom ash. It also results in cost savings, as the processed bottom ash can be disposed of at the environmentally friendly landfill B site. This solution offers both ecological and economic advantages for the operator.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023/2024?

D.L: Our plan for the future includes various strategic objectives aimed at growing the business, strengthening sustainability goals and making a positive impact on the environment.

Product and service innovation: Continuous research and development to develop innovative recycling processes, environmentally friendly products or sustainable services. We aim to research and deploy new technologies to improve recycling processes or find new ways to reuse materials.

Promote circular economy: We focus on promoting the circular economy by partnering with suppliers and customers to close material flows. We support initiatives to reduce waste, promote product reuse or implement systems to take back and refurbish products.

Partnerships and collaborations: Strategic partnerships are formed with other stakeholders in recycling and sustainability. Collaboration with government agencies, research institutions or other companies can lead to synergies and strengthen the success of sustainability and recycling initiatives.

Many future plans also depend on corporate strategy, resources, market environment and specific challenges.
