Biotop is a roof painting company. They are present on the market since 2007, and since then, they have been growing the business rapidly. Now, Biotop has 27 teams working all around the country and in neighboring countries like Austria, Slovakia, Germany and Czech Republic.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
We are changing the people’s thinking of renovating the roof. Instead of changing the roof, which is more costly, generates more debris and is less ecological, we are recommending painting it – the paint can last even for 20 years on the roof. We are painting concrete roof tiles, ceramic roof tiles, and every metal surface like trapezoidal, flat or wavy metal sheets.
Our services leave the roof looking like new.
E.E: What’s the news about new products/services?
Now we are building new headquarters equipped with an advanced and modern laboratory, that will help us improve our services and also examine the products in order to make it the best possible, to give longer warranty, and to test how long specific paints can last in different weather conditions.
E.E: What are the ranges of products/services?
We are mainly using high quality solvent based epoxy-acrylic roof paints that contains over 65% of solid mass (SOP). That is important, because when we compare it with the most popular water-based paints, then we see that the values in water-based paints are switched, and the 65% is the solvent: water, and only 35-40% is the solid mass that is left when the solvent evaporates. Using paints with greater SOP, leaves a lot more material on the roof, and therefore secure the surface a lot better – meaning, the paint thickness is a lot greater.
E.E: What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
In Poland, there are a lot of companies doing roof painting. Fortunately, we are one of the first companies that started such a business, and are the first to start ceramic tiles painting. We also strongly stand out by using only the best products, giving a 5-year warranty for our services. The costs are a little bit bigger when calculating the price per square meter, but the coating life is a lot longer, and that means, in a 20 year period, the service is cheaper when You don’t have to paint Your roof every 4 – 5 years.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
We can see that people know more and more about the possibility of painting the roof instead of changing it, which is fantastic. We also see that oftentimes customers want to just change the color of the roof for a more modern one, for example RAL 7016 anthracite, or similar.
E.E: What are the most innovative products/services marketed?
Most definitely the most innovative products are the solvent-based paints which I mentioned above. When it comes about the service, the most innovative service is the heating of the paint before application. It prevents bleeding of the paint and it guarantees a flatter and a better looking surface. It requires a lot more practice and different equipment, so there are only a few companies doing it.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2024?
We will do our job like every other year. We just hired new, very talented employees for out growing teams. We can see the growth of the roof painting field, and we want to make sure we will still be the leader in 2024 and the following years.
