CASE STUDY. HOW DO BEVELTOOLS’ PRODUCTS I SOLUTIONS DRIVE EFFICIENCY TO CLIENTS?

Revolutionizing the landscape of metal beveling and finishing, Beveltools presents a paradigm shift that promises swifter, more cost-effective, and precision-focused solutions.

Easy Engineering: A brief description of a project / projects.

Recently, I visited a company which uses Beveltools solutions for their projects. They acquire the product through our dealer. This company constructs large passenger ships and ferries.

E.E: What were the needs of the client?

The company required a way to quicky apply roundings to the edges of a large amount of different metal shapes, including holes, curves and straight edges. As these pieces would be painted, they needed a solution that ensured adhesion with the paint. The other issue they wanted to tackle was the time consuming deburring work that sometimes had to happen before a piece could be finished.

E.E: Why did the client choose your products / solutions?

Mobility was very important in their consideration of the tool. They needed a solution that allowed the workers to quickly move about the area and finish the different workpieces. That’s where a Beveltools solution comes in especially handy. The light-weight Beveltools also allow for quick change of cutter type, so that no time was lost when cycling between cutters. Our solution also worked well with a paint finish.

E.E: What products / solutions were used?

Beveltools products are divided between the Bevel Mate and Bevel Mite product lines. Click this link to learn more about them: Products – Beveltools. Bevel Mate products are larger hand tools for heavy duty rounding, although they still only weigh up to 5kg. The Bevel Mite is a smaller hand tool for flexible use. The company chose the Bevel Mate EBA 3.0 electrical tool and Bevel Mite ABIS-B 3.0 pneumatic tool. Both of these products are great all-round tools and main-liners of the Beveltools solutions.

E.E: Please describe how was the project implemented?

The company used a combination of Bevel Mate and Bevel Mite solutions. With the patented Beveltools cutters, many hundreds of meters of material could be rounded before the cutter needed replacing, which can be done in a matter of seconds. While these tools still require a cable connection for electricity or compressed air, both were readily available on the work floor. The company primarily made roundings on their workpieces, specifically R3 (3mm) roundings for a variety of reasons: better coating-paint bonding, aesthetics, and to prevent cabling to be damaged — cabling would be laid through holes, so a sharp edges incur a risk of damage.

E.E: Were there any products with special characteristics used?

This project did not use any unique products to achieve their goals. However, this project once again showed us that, especially In the ship building industry, there’s a need for specialized tools. While I can’t say much about it now, we’re developing a special tool designed for heavy workpieces that are hard to move. A shipyard has many such pieces.

E.E: How did your products / solutions improve productivity for the client?

The time saved can be measured in hours, or days, in total. With previous methods (grinders and beveling inserts) the end result left a lot be desired and it would take much more time to debur, change the inserts and do several passes.

E.E: How important was the project / projects for the client?

Building ships is the customer’s bread and butter. While beveling and rounding is a small part that goes into the construction of a ship, the increase in quality and productivity with the use of Beveltools creates a better whole.

E.E: What was the client feedback after implementation?

The company was extremely positive about the Beveltools solutions. The ease with which roundings could be applied, and the smooth finish was something of a wonder to them.

E.E: How did the solutions provide improved efficiency for the client?

The real secret to improved efficiency with Beveltools are the cutters. Their unique geometry creates a scooping motion and this, in combination with the cutter material and the machine it’s attached to, makes it so that there is no better alternative on the market.  Using R3 and R4 cutters, the company was able to increase their efficiency in this part of the production process by orders of magnitude.

E.E: What are your forecasts for the second half of 2024?

As stated earlier, Beveltools is looking for new ways to assist companies in the metalworking industry to increase their productivity and efficiency. We hope to introduce three new products in our catalogue this year, and if everything goes planned, we can have an official launch of these products during our exhibition on the EuroBLECH fair in Hannover, this October. The exhibition runs from the 22nd to the 25th of October, and you can find us in Hall 11, booth 11-J165.
