INTERVIEW WITH EAGLE

Eagle produces laser cutting machines in fiber technology. These are one of the most modern and efficient laser cutting machines in the world. The company was the first to offer machines of 6kW, 12kW, 15kW and 20kW power. At EAGLE, every day they aim to break new barriers in developing the most modern laser metal cutting systems. Eagle is known for their effective combination of high power and acceleration, which provides their customers with a high-quality parts at a low production cost. An extremely important element of the machines is their own patented eVa cutting head, which supports the entire power spectrum and was designed especially for fiber lasers.

In order to provide the customers with the full spectrum of production capabilities, the company also offers their own automation systems. Loading and unloading devices and storage systems increase productivity and make work much easier. However, to ensure full efficiency, you need the right software, and this is what EAGLE also delivers to its customers.

Interview with Janusz Marcin Ejma, CEO at EAGLE.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Janusz Marcin Ejma: As I mentioned earlier, we are the manufacturer of laser cutters in fiber technology and we focus all our activities on this particular product. From the very beginning, our cutting machines were dedicated to the emerging fiber technology. It was not known at that time whether this new technology would be able to defeat the already well-established CO2 laser technology. However, we believed that fiber is the future. As it turned out later, we were right, because today 95% of laser cutters sold are fiber lasers. Today we are the trend setters, we have the greatest knowledge about fiber and its possibilities in terms of efficiency. We traveled thousands of kilometers around the world, we researched, we measured, to find out what customers need, and today, enriched with this knowledge, we meet their needs.

I can also say with certainty that because we produce one specific product, we are able to focus fully on its continuous development. We started with 2kW laser power, and the 20kW we are selling today is not the end of our possibilities. We still want to develop and motivate others to do the same.

E.E: What are the news for 2021 about new products?

J.M.E: The year 2021 is special for us, because this is the year when we celebrate our 15th anniversary. During this time, we have managed to become a brand that competes with the biggest players in the market. Every year we try to surprise the industry with our novelties and this time it will be no different. In the first quarter of this year, we managed to release the latest version of our reporting system – eRs Cloud. It is a modern tool that provides full control over the work of the laser cutting machine. All you need is a smartphone with Internet access to get the insight to strategic data presented in the form of personalized reports. Skillful use of this data allows the user to optimize costs, increase productivity, but also to identify production trends. This year’s novelties also include a new system for measuring sheet thickness in the Crane Master loading and unloading system and the PCS option – piercing control system, i.e. a burnout control option which increases machine efficiency and safety. For the second half of the year, we have planned a few more novelties, I can only tell that in addition to another technological options that improve the quality of cutting and the efficiency of the machine, we will also release a component for the machine of our production.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

J.M.E: There are 3 types of laser cutting machines in our offer. The first one is iNspire, addressed to customers requiring absolutely highest quality, to the biggest companies, with the highest expectations. It is designed for mass production. Another one is eVision, dedicated to customers expecting a solution suitable for diversified production. This is the most versatile series of our cutting machines. There is also an economical eSmart, designed for smaller companies, with a smaller budget, who are just beginning their adventure with laser or simply the laser cutting process is not so important in their company to invest more. We also offer non-standard sized laser cutting machines fully customized to meet the production requirements of a particular customer. Each of our laser cutting machines is equipped with our patented eVa cutting head and other top quality components from trusted, reputable suppliers. These are, among others, polymer concrete bodies with excellent vibration damping, carbon fiber traverse, linear motors, absolute linear encoders and the greatly important fiber laser source from IPG, a company we have worked with for many years.

Automation systems that improve the process of loading and unloading the material along with storage systems are a complement to our main product, the laser cutter, but due to the savings they provide, they are increasingly chosen by our customers.

This is complemented by our extensive software package. It is certainly worth mentioning eSoft, a universal CAD/CAM software with very high performance parameters and functionality. We are also very proud of the technology we have developed, such as FastLine, which ensures super-fast cutting of thin metal sheets, or MixLine, which significantly increases the quality and speed of technology for cutting mild steel and aluminum of medium thickness and thanks to the use of oxygen minimizes or fully eliminates burr on the work part.

E.E: At what stage is the laser cutting industry?

J.M.E: The laser cutting industry is a mature industry, and so are laser cutting products, or laser cutters. They have been present on the market for several decades. These are tested solutions that have proven their reliability, usefulness, efficiency and quality. We, on the other hand, are a relatively young player on this market, but thanks to the fact that we focus only on laser cutting machines and our whole team devotes their time, energy and talent to improve our machines, today we can say with full responsibility that the machines we produce are the most efficient, most reliable laser cutters with the lowest service costs in the world. Not forgetting, of course, the most modern design and the highest achievable parameters such as laser power and dynamics.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

J.M.E: The trends that can be observed in the market have remained constant for some time. Mainly, the machines are said to be more and more powerful and efficient. The final product coming out of the machine, i.e. the cut piece, is required to be cheaper and cheaper. These are the expectations of the customer, who increases his profit thanks to this.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?

J.M.E: Very good. Already in April, the number of orders exceeded the sales volume obtained in 2020, and it should be mentioned that it was a record year for us, despite the outbreak of the pandemic. Our brand has definitely established itself in the market and gained considerable recognition. Today we are seen as technology leaders and as a premium brand, which we are very proud of. As a result, in this difficult situation that the world is facing, many customers are choosing to buy a machine from us because our machines give them a real competitive advantage right from the start. So we are optimistic about the future. From our perspective, 2021 is already looking very promising and optimistic, but we also hope that 2022 and the following years will look just as good. We have hope and reason to believe that the upward trend will continue for us. This is due to both our technological dominance in the industry and our growing product portfolio. The steadily increasing quality and size of our organization as a whole and in terms of sales and service are also good signs for the future.
