CASETUR MECHANISM, SPACE SAVING MECHANISMS FOR SMART FURNITURE

casetur mechanism is constantly developing its products further to enable furniture designers and supplier companies to turn their products into great space saving objects – one of the most important topics in modern city living.

Interview with Benjamin R Halde, Inventor/Founder & Managing Director at casetur.

Easy Engineering: A brief description of the company and its activities.

Benjamin R Halde: casetur mechanism strives to offer solutions for a high living comfort, especially to people with homes that have space limitations. Home is sacred for most people; it is a safe haven and nowadays even our office. Therefore, we want everyone to love the place they live in, and this is exactly why we create space saving solutions to make your home feel great and comfortable.

E.E: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

B.R.H: We are proud to deliver a range of mechanical space saving products that can be applied to a great number of desk or furniture applications. The striking advantage of our products is the ability to perform a rotation and movements when the rotation of a furniture item is restricted by walls or a corner. Our mechanical products allow furniture parts or desks to be stowed away and create therefore a space saving benefit for the user.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

B.R.H: Our latest product ROTO which was first shown on the Interzum 2023 fair in Cologne is a small kitchen island application and it is the first product where a surface that rotates, does not need to be designed with a side leg.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

B.R.H: The recent years have brought a lot of change to how we live and work. One major shift has come through the global pandemic, where people have been forced to work from home for a period of time and needed to transform their homes to cater for a number of additional work areas depending on the number of people living together. With the end of the pandemic a full return to the office seems not suitable anymore for most employees and people want to carry out working from home at least partially, which seems to establish hybrid models. The change regarding increased working from home requires for employees to find a sustainable work set up at home, which increases pressure on existing living space. With the ongoing war in Ukraine, increased energy prices and general inflation people might not always be able to change their living arrangement and will need to find smart ways how to maximise the current available living space.

Installation of CM4070

Due to the high interest rates and increased rent and housing prices, we see more and more activity around tiny houses and compact living. Alone in Germany there are over 30 companies offering tiny or container houses, which has increased over the last decade.

In kitchen design we notice early trends to move away from open plan kitchen design, back to separate kitchen in a specified room or area. This might require rethinking how space can be used effectively.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

B.R.H: We have patented our moving principle which is the underlying movement for all our product variations we sell, therefore we believe all our products are equally innovative. From a customer perspective the CM4070 has been selling the most, but it has also been our very first product. The SLIDER has received a lot of market response since it is indeed a space saving all -rounder, which people really appreciate.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?

B.R.H: We have just engaged with a distributor to represent us exclusively in Australia and New Zealand, where we have only had little market activity before and expect to reach a larger market penetration. We are in discussion with various distributors in India, where we hope to increase our market penetration. We are also expanding our already strong distribution network in Europe and the Americas.
