Chat3D is a startup specializing in Generative Artificial Intelligence for 3D. While traditional 3D modeling software like Autodesk or Dassault System requires months of training and takes an average of 4 hours to create a 3D asset, their software allows the creation of a 3D model from a simple text description (prompt) or an image in less than a minute. This reduces the 3D modeling time by nearly 95% on average.
Interview with Felix Balmonet, CEO of Chat3D.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Felix Balmonet: To date, Chat3D has two main activities:
- Creating a SaaS software accessible for free from our website at https://chat3d.ai aimed at the cultural and creative industries such as video game studios, virtual and augmented reality, as well as animation studios.
- A co-development program with major companies in the cultural and creative industries as well as engineering sectors. This begins with an audit phase of the partner to identify where the development of a solution using our technology can be useful to significantly increase productivity.
E.E: What’s the news about new products/services?
F.B: After a first demo in San Francisco at the Game Developers Conference in March, our team has just unveiled the most advanced version of Chat3D, allowing much faster creation of 3D models than before (5 minutes previously) and in a much more faithful and realistic manner according to user requests. Our next step will be to release an API allowing our users to integrate Chat3D directly into their workflow.
E.E: What is the state of the market where you are currently active?
F.B: Our main market, that of video games and virtual reality, currently weighs nearly 100 billion dollars and is expected to double by 2030.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
F.B: We have observed over the past 5 years that companies have shown a growing interest in AI. Now, this interest seems to be focusing on Generative AI, particularly with all the LLMs (technology behind services like ChatGPT) as well as for generating images, videos, and of course, 3D. These companies see an exceptional opportunity to boost their productivity and thus their competitiveness against their competitors by allowing them to create faster and more personalized vast universes. Conversely, companies initially reluctant to adopt generative AI are reconsidering, seeing the technological lag they could face.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2024?
F.B: 2024 will be a pivotal moment for Chat3D with the creation of key partnerships. We will also close our fundraising in S2, which will allow us to accelerate our commercial and technological development. On this latter point, we are preparing to release several innovative features throughout the year, offering ever-greater editing capabilities and coherence of generated models to be as close as possible to our users’ imagination.
