Easy Engineering: How was 2021 for your business, a short summary?
Jan Windmüller: The year 2021, was one of the most important years ever for us. We hired several employees during the year and were able to grow from a small design office to a bigger team. We added many new partners and customers, but most importantly, we launched our Engineering Starter Kits in early 2021. This was a very big step into the future for us.
E.E: What new products/services will be launched this year?
J.W: In fact, we have big plans for this year, later this month we will launch a new simulation software on digital twin and virtual commissioning, as well as new VR technologies for the design of machines and plants. Simulation will also become an integral part of the Starter Kits, which will present us with great challenges in terms of time.
In addition, it is planned to further expand the automation and generative design sector in terms of 3D printing.
E.E: How did the market change in the last year?
J.W: We notice it very strongly that communication almost only takes place online, whether suppliers or customers. Everyone uses online portals, chats and to-do lists.
This does not always have advantages, but we have the feeling that especially with larger companies, communication has become much easier. We can also integrate our customers more easily into our very digital processes.
We have lost some projects that had problems getting their parts due to supply chains. This will probably accompany us for quite a while. But in return, we were able to deliver some parts with 3D printing and offer our customers fast solutions with new developments. There is always a way to help.
E.E: What were the best-selling products of 2021?
J.W: In first place, of course, our services: Design, development, automation, and supplier management. Often triggered by our starter kits.
Our Starter Kits relieve the sales department, help the project to get off to the right start, create a basis for costing and help to make decisions, all great benefits for little money.
E.E: What sector of business do you think is expected to grow this year?
J.W: Clearly automation and robotics, we will see due to the shortage of skilled workers that we need to automate to remain competitive. But we must not forget that programmers and assemblers are also needed for this and that digitization plays a major role.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?
J.W: We think it’s time to step on the gas, the problems are clear. We need to automate and digitalize, worldwide but especially in Europe.
This year, quick decisions will be important. Clear goals in environmental matters are just as important. Especially small companies with short distances and effective work can help to pull the slow giants along. Only the use of new technologies and fresh ideas will take us further.
