With inventions and advancements, DSI offers ideal solutions for some of the world’s most challenging bulk materials handling applications.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

D.S: Currently, we are staying very busy with our engineering and consulting services. Over the years, our engineering and supply has been the largest part of our business and this is dominated by the engineering and supply of new Dos Santos Sandwich Belt high-angle conveyors. Our Sandwich Shop is a growing part of our business. As the name implies the Sandwich Shop is where we offer parts and services for existing Sandwich Belt high-angle conveyors. Besides being a profitable endeavor, it is also an important quality control and sales program. By supplying the correct/quality parts, and our expert services, we are able to keep existing systems running at their best and demonstrate the Dos Santos Sandwich Belt capabilities.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

D.S: Innovations and improvements are continuous at Dos Santos International. This has included the hybrid Snake/GPS Sandwich amalgamation to elevate shredded tires in Texas in 2019 but more important have been the latest patented inventions, The “Adder Snake” and the “TBM Trailing Sandwich Belt High Angle Conveyor”. The former is the invention of Marc dos Santos, patented in 2017 while the latter is the invention of Joe Dos Santos patented in 2021 and in 2022.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

D.S: Our products and services range from conceptual developments to technical/economic studies to engineering and supply of materials handling equipment (conveyors) and structural systems.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

D.S: Presently the market for engineering and supply of materials handling and conveying equipment and systems is weak. On the other hand, the market for our engineering and consulting services is strong.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

D.S: During Covid, markets were badly disrupted and, due to the aftermath including inflation, they have not returned. They are unpredictable but based on their current state we believe they will improve in the future.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

D.S: Our flagship system, the DSI Sandwich Belt high-angle conveyor is our top innovation, as we are the only company to design and manufacture this system. While it is our flagship, we have recently patented the DSI Adder Snake which complements a more conventional materials handling system by eliminating lengthy transfer points.  Additionally, the DSI TBM Trailing Conveyor offers an advantage to the tunnel boring tunneling process.

We also market our engineering and consulting services, as we have been asked to perform some very challenging projects because of our expert engineering skills.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?

D.S: We hope for the best but based on the current state of the economy we don’t expect strong sales in engineering and supply of equipment and systems. Based on performance so far, we do expect a good 2023 in the sales of our engineering and consulting services.
