Interview with Giovanna Barzaghi, Commercial Director at Effebiquattro.
Easy Engineering: A brief description of the company and its activities.
Giovanna Barzaghi: For over 45 years Effebiquattro has been a point of reference in the design and manufacture of interior doors. Based in Seregno, in the heart of Brianza, Effebiquattro was founded in 1975 from the entrepreneurial vision of my father Mario Barzaghi, who remains at the helm of the company with my sister Simona and me.
Thanks to our ability to interpret the needs of the present and use them to look towards the future, we then expanded our proposal with glass and aluminum panels, cabinets and paneling that combine aesthetics and functionality, while respecting the environment. Our catalog offers many solutions in different areas of taste and for every need.
E.E: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
G.B: We were born as a manufacturer of interior doors and today we have broadened our field of action by accompanying our collection of doors with furnishing solutions and systems that offer the harmonious customisation and furnishing of various spaces, from the office and home to hotels and accommodation in general therefore touching the areas of public, private and contract.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
G.B: Our newest product is Essenze, a collection of doors, paneling, sliding walls and wardrobes available in three different essences: Warm, Light, and Dark and created from the collaboration with MatteoThun & Antonio Rodriguez. The first essence (Warm) was presented the at the Milano Design Week 2022, this year we presented Light, next year we will present Dark.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
G.B: The product ranges are diverse and range from a basic and traditionally styled product, but still of high quality and with excellent materials, to a higher level, custom-made product for prestigious projects such as in the case of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
In fact, for the renovation of the theater in 2004, we designed and created no less than 460 doors ad hoc in resin-coated wood, lacquered with ecological water-based paints with gold leaf applied by hand.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
G.B: The door market is constantly evolving. When we started with our production, the door was made only of wood, in the last ten to fifteen years we have seen the growth and spread of the use of technical materials such as aluminum and melamine. Today, however, we are returning to the use of wood for its naturalness and simplicity, and an example of this is “Essenze” project in collaboration with Matteo Thun & Antonio Rodriguez, which I mentioned earlier. Each style use different sources of wood natural textures fluted glass and finishes that convey tactility and sensorially.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
G.B: As mentioned earlier there is a rapprochement with the natural product and the rediscovery of wood, the material from which we started, as a symbol of warmth and nature.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
G.B: All doors are manufactured in-house in our factories and have as innovative features the fully concealed hinges that are our patent and the soundproofing with 28dB soundproofing degree.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?
G.B: We are looking ahead, beyond the door. Today the market recognizes us as a leader
in the interior door sector, but our goal is to position the Eﬀebiquattro brand in the world of professionals who are not satisfied with choosing for a home, office or hotel “only” a beautiful door, but are also attentive to the needs of design
and functionality. In the near future we want to bring the Eﬀebiquattro brand into the best architectural firms and into the homes of those who seek natural products that enhance wood while respecting the environment.
