ENFINERGY, INTELLIGENT ENERGY MANAGEMENT

Enfinergy is a startup company founded in 2020 in New York, USA. In 2022, the company opened their operations in Europe – Italy, Enfinergy SRL.

Easy Engineering: A brief description of the company and its activities.

Our mission is to create the new generation of electric grid where the energy supply will be based mainly on distributed small generation sources, primarily using renewable energy, and these generators will be coordinating their activity among themselves to achieve grid balance in every moment of time.

Our products are:

Smart Power Center (SPC) – a compact energy generating and energy storage device which can be installed on the site of the prosumer, and connected to multiple energy sources like the public grid, solar panels, conventional generators, etc. With the built in Artificial Intelligence the SPC will decide at every moment of time the optimal source of energy and the best cost scenario of energy usage.

Smart Power Hub – the cloud-based software which enables the Smart Grid functionality by connecting the SPC devices into a distributed virtual Power Plant (VPP) and distributed Energy Storage System (DESS), enabling controlling the energy flows on a grid as a group demand response, energy communities, or P2P transactional configurations.

E.E: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

The main area of activity is providing intelligent renewable energy generation and storage solutions (SPC) for homes and small business applications.

The SPC is a compact Microgrid containing all required components to form a true microgrid, within one same enclosure.

The distributed SPC units are then connected into the smart distributed energy system which can work interactively with the electric grid and provide grid balancing and demand response services to energy operators and aggregators.

E.E: What’s the news about new products/services?

In Q1, 2024 we will be launching to the market our Smart Power Center product, mainly focusing on a single-phase energy markets in Europe. We will first aim to address the customers in Italy, later growing into the markets of UK and Spain.

Our software offering will be aiming to support the active growth of renewable energy communities and energy aggregators in these countries.

E.E: What are the ranges of products/services?

The Smart Power Center is supplied in three configurations:

Smart Power Eco Base: With the power output capacity of 3,68kW and integrated energy storage of 5kWh, allowing to connect up to 5kW of PV panels

Smart Power Eco Flex: With the power output capacity of 6kW and integrated energy storage of 10kWh, allowing to connect up to 9kW of PV panels

Smart Power Eco Pro: With the power output capacity of 6kW and integrated energy storage of 20kWh, allowing to connect up to 9kW of PV panels

Smart Power Hub Software: The software for managing Smart Grid with distributed energy generation and consumption

E.E: What is the state of the market where you are currently active?

The market is rapidly growing. In Italy alone the installations of home and small business energy PV generation and storage units have more than doubled in 2023 vs. 2022, reaching a total of over 1,5 million PV and storage systems installed. Using the SPC will help customers achieve additional savings on their energy bills, thanks to the embedded AI driven smart energy algorithms of SPC.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

The market has shown strong and steady growth in the last several years and is expected to continue to grow with the same pace or even more. There are countries in EU which have been in the forefront of the market and early adopters of the PV and energy storage technology for residential prosumers and are now shaping-up the energy management solutions for the installed base of multiple solar inverters and storage batteries which have been installed in the past several years, while as the benefit for the newly introduced products is that they have already in mind the trend for growing energy communities and energy aggregators so that the grid becomes more flexible and accommodating for a multiplicity of distributed prosumers.

Exponential growth in the number of Energy Communities is predicted to occur in the near future. A study by the Politecnico di Milano (Electricity Market Report) estimates that by 2025 Italian energy communities will number around 40,000 and will involve around 1.2 million households, 200,000 offices and 10,000 SMEs.

E.E: What are the most innovative products/services marketed?

The most innovative products are expected to be the ones similar to our Smart Power Center, where the management of energy flows for the owner of the device is done with the use of smart AI algorithms, taking into account the weather forecast variations and the cost of energy in every moment of time, utilizing dynamic pricing of grid energy and also managing the consumption of the household loads including EV charging, by making them truly smart.

The new products will also allow integration with the grid management services, so the renewable energy communities can benefit the most from the grid demand and supply and the energy prices variation on the spot market.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the beginning of 2024?

We are very optimistic to see the market growth continuing with the pace similar to what it was in 2023, so we have good time for the market entry and we are looking to get reasonable volume of SPC units sold in 2024 and attracting renewable energy communities to use our SPH software solution.

We are deeply committed to fostering collaborations with energy communities, recognizing it as a pivotal opportunity within the dynamic and ever-evolving energy landscape.
