Interview with Markus Thrun, Managing Partner at EverGlow.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Markus Thrun: EverGlow creates and manufactures a complete system of safety grade “glow in the dark” signs, markers, films, tapes & coatings.  We provide the following resources.

Recommendations and advice on code requirements and best practices to ensure installing photoluminescent signs and markings in full compliance with local codes and NFPA 101

Insight on how the choice of each photoluminescent sign and marking will impact labor & installation costs, time for project completion and suggestions for selecting the correct product which might save both time and money

EverGlow is a knowledgeable resource for application and installation instructions so you have reliable project requirements to DO IT RIGHT and INSTALL IT ONCE

EverGlow is a member of all relevant national and international codes and standards committees for Safety signs and Safety Way Guidance systems.

Our goal is to ensure that everyone can find their way to safety during an emergency.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

M.T: Research and development are 2 important pillars for the continuous expansion of the product portfolio and optimization of our ISO 9001 and 14001 certified manufacturing processes.

What is the best way to process pigments? Which binders are environmentally friendly and at the same time extremely stable? How do I achieve maximum luminosity with resource-saving use of pigments and components?

These are all questions that our development department investigates on a daily basis, along with many others. It is not uncommon for knowledge to be gained that we can use in completely different areas.

EverGlow not only stands for photoluminescent security products, but also for a high level of core competence in the area of complex luminescence technology.

We are also happy to support our customers in the development of new products and applications.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

M.T: The products ranges lead from escape route signs and markings, coatings to design elements and other applications of luminescent products such as OEM marking, test cards for IR, UV and also design elements such as tiles, inks and fabrics.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

M.T: In our opinion especially if you consider the worldwide activities to reduce the energy consumption we are just at the beginning of the market. PL products are not only beneficial to industry and other commercial sectors, but also for residentials and private houses. EverGlow products can be a huge benefit to the principle of smart cities with zero energy consumption.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

M.T: LED illumination is the biggest challenge for PL products. EverGlow provides a special combination of glow-in-the-dark pigments which are designed and optimized for LED activation. We call it EverGlow TL (Triple Loading)

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

M.T: We are supplying high grade photoluminescent floor path marking to the aircraft industry. Especially the blue glowing material is very innovative.

New developments will be released shortly. We also believe in the benefit of a combination of PL and LED technology. New products will be released soon as well.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?

M.T: Last year we have been back to where we have been before the pandemic, and we expect a significant growth in 2023. Especially our continuing dialogue with stake holders in the market, such as construction and tunnel planning companies, airports, industry and others will lead to planning and installing of Safety Way Guidance Systems and new fields for photoluminescent products.
