Extrom was born from the merger between the two main players on the Belgian market, the Abrasives Center in Liège and the D’hulster company in Lichtervelde. These two companies have been active on the Belgian market for more than 50 years and as such benefit from a long experience both technically and commercially.
Every day 30 people put their know-how and their enthusiasm at the service of a large customer base spread over Belgian territory as well as in more than 40 countries around the world.
Five sales representatives cover the national territory, and two sales representatives cover French territory. They are technically trained to answer the questions and needs of all our industrial customers.
Extrom exports each year to more than 40 countries around the world and ensures deliveries from its 10,000 stock references on D + 1 (national) and D + 2 (international).
Extrom is also two ISO 9001 certified production workshops: guarantee of efficient work organization, guarantee of reliability for production.
These two sites are dedicated to all converting work but each with a specialty: Liège specializing in the manufacture of abrasive wheels and deburring wheels, and Lichtervelde specializing in the manufacture of custom abrasive belts.

EXTROM: 2021 marks the launch of a sales program focused on the automation and robotization of steel and woodwork.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
EXTROM: The Extrom product range covers: Applied and structured abrasives, wheels, belts, abrasive discs, diamond tools, cutting tools, metal brushes, grinding wheels, polishing and sanding products, PPE, glues and adhesives, machines for machining metal parts, turrets, tape devices and machines for all types of workshops, portable machines, welding machines and accessories.
Extrom specializes in the manufacture of wheels, abrasive belts and the development of custom abrasive tools, but thanks to its close collaboration with the world’s largest producers, Extrom is able to find a solution to any specific problem in each of the industrial sectors.
Composite type finishing Wheel
- Composed of coated abrasive cloth flaps interleaved with abrasive impregnated nylon pads.
- These wheels are not comparable to the flap wheels composed of coated abrasive cloth flaps.
- For the finishing work, they provide at once an even surface and a satin appearance often hard to obtain otherwise.
- Their great flexibility facilitates the finishing work on all shaped pieces.
- These wheels are used dry, are completely safe for the user and reduce manufacturing time often in large proportions.

These wheels are composed of abrasive impregnated nylon flaps:
- Satin finish on stainless steel, copper, brass, steel, aluminum, tin;
- Decorative items;
- Light tarnishing of paint, polyester, wood;
- Maintenance of public equipment, escalators, railings.
Manufacture and processing of abrasive belts:
We produce, process or distribute different types of tapes, whether short and narrow tapes, wide tapes or abrasive sleeves and long tapes. These products are available on canvas or paper supports. They are suitable for grinding welding cords, deburring, grinding of cast parts, polishing of defects to obtain a perfect finish.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
EXTROM: Extrom got through the Corona virus health crisis with a controlled impact. Indeed, some industrial sectors are booming and Extrom has been able to support them. We are constantly evolving in the development of our ranges of products, tools, accessories and machines for the fields of steel, construction and wood, in order to best meet the expectations of our customers both from a technical and logistical point of view.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
EXTROM: Beyond the quality and performance of the products we offer, the other trends of the current market are to reduce the time and manufacturing costs for our users, to ensure the safety of operators and to reduce the environmental impact.
Another major trend is automation and robotics for precision deburring, polishing and sanding. Deburring is too often neglected or little effort is put into improving it.
On the other hand, for certain high-tech fields such as aeronautics, the manufactured parts make it possible to improve and optimize the deburring stage. There is then a great interest in improving this operation to ensure the quality of the product until the last operation, especially when it comes to precision deburring.
At Extrom sales specialists are specially trained to meet the requirements of this type of need. In addition, a last important detail: there is a reversal in the trend of job losses due to the development of this robotization. On the other hand, this development contributes to the creation of new jobs.
We also saw a good trend on wireless equipment, power tools with «multi volt» rechargeable batteries. These allow professionals to significantly increase the performance of their wireless machines and thus achieve huge time savings.

EXTROM: Diamond products: technical abrasives are constantly evolving and thus meet the expectations of our customers faced with increasingly technical materials.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?
EXTROM: The year 2021 is marked by a recovery of the world economy. Supply and logistics disruptions create constraints for our customers. Extrom makes and has made every effort to ensure the production and delivery of products to its customers within an acceptable time and price.
The year 2021 will be marked by a new dynamic for the high-tech industry.
