With more than 60 years of experience, the founding families Fuochi and Milanesi still lead FM Gru company today. FM Gru is one of the leaders in building and selling construction cranes. The whole manufacturing process, from engineering to final testing, takes place in the headquarters of Pontenure (PC), in an area which is over 100.000 square metres, realising a final product totally Made in Italy. Thanks to the use of innovative technologies and to the capacity to meet the needs of every single building site, the brand FM Gru is known and appreciated all over the world for its efficiency, quality, and reliability.
On September 2023. in the splendid setting of Paderna Castle, near Pontenure (Piacenza), FM Gru celebrated the 60th anniversary milestone: a moment of joy, sharing and balance.
This important achievement was shared with all employees, customers and suppliers who have crossed FM Gru’s path and who have made an essential contribution to its growth and transformation into a leading company in the sector.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
FMGru manufactures and sells cranes, carefully studied and designed, to solve all the problems of lifting in modern construction sites.
E.E: What’s the news about new products?
Our latest products presented at BAUMA 2022 exhibition are:
- Tower Crane mod.FM 2065 TLX which has the following features :
- Jib length of 65 Mt
- Maximum capacity 10 Ton with single fall of ropes, with winch V37.90
- Maximum capacity 5 Ton with single fall of ropes and 10 Ton with double fall of ropes, with winch V45.60;
- Automatic integrated Ultralift system (+10% in tip loading capacity)
- Radio remote control with multifunctional display
- Integrated Zoning and Anti-Collision System
- Load position memory system
- Installation of platforms for safety maintenance under the hoisting and trolley motors
- Interchangeability of spare parts with other FM crane models of TLX range
- Easy installation with possibility of pre-assembly on the ground of the whole jib with fixing of trolley and hoisting ropes.
Self erecting crane mod.FM 𝟳𝟮𝟳𝗥𝗕𝗜–𝗙𝗔 with homologated fast axles 80km/h, with the following main technical features:
- Horizontal jib length Mt.27
- Height under hook at horizontal jib Mt.18,1
- Tip load and maximum load capacity Kg.700/2400
Road wheeled axles able to reach the speed of 80 km/h composed by 2 axles for a total of no. 4 wheels, hot-dip galvanised. Equipped with pneumatic suspension for self-levelling on the road, a braking system with ABS and EBS, and a warning light system. The rear axle is steered and radio-controlled to facilitate parking and steering manoeuvres. The crane is hooked to the fifth wheel of the towing vehicle with a special frame called a “king pin”, which is unique for all cranes (in the solution as a semi-trailer).
Our trailers and semi-trailers can travel at 80 km/h and are all suitable for crane towing on the road because they are homologated according to EC Directive 2007/46/EC and they can therefore be registered in all countries of the European Community and the Swiss Confederation.
The biggest telescopic self-erecting crane mod.FM 1247 RBI-TD that will become a “keystone” in our range of self-erecting cranes.

- With the adding of elements it could reach an height of Mt. 36,5 at horizontal jib and Mt. 57,5 with 30° luffed jib

Our range of production includes:

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
We export cranes all over the world especially Europe (mainly in Italy -of course-, Germany, France, Portugal, The Netherlands, Belgium, Finland and east Europe) but also in Turkey, Switzerland and Central and South America.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
These last 10 months have been very positive for us: we have experienced a constant increase in the demand for cranes both in Italy and abroad.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
In these last years we decide to invest in the following innovations:
- On our cranes we use eco-friendly/green materials
- On our crane it is possible to install the 𝗙𝗠-𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗞 𝟰.𝟬 system which allows the main functions of the crane to be monitored using an interface accessible by remote connection.
In particular this system allows:
- the automatic remote update of the crane software
- the possibility of activating predictive assistance mechanisms by monitoring and diagnosing the general condition of the crane in order to schedule the necessary assistance activities
- the display of crane load cycles
- the visualisation of crane and individual hoisting time data.
E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2023?
About national Italian situation, with the resources allocated for PNRR is presumed that great and important public works are undertaken for the infrastructures of our country (especially from next year 2024), where the demand for cranes we hope will be high.
However, we are aware that it is begun a slight inflection, due to the reduction of state incentives in the last 3 years for the purchase of goods equipped with technology according to the Transition 4.0. regulation (as our cranes).
As far as international market is concerned, we hope that the world economic situation can improve, in order to maintain and strengthen our business, increasing sales. However, we are expanding our dealer network to new markets.
