For more than 35 years, DAM Group has been a major player in the design and manufacture of functional test benches for mobility industries: housings & chassis components, power electronics and transmissions. It also has historic expertise in leak testing for mobility components, physical measurement & instrumentation, assembly, automation, and software. The Group is based in France and employs around 50 people.

DAM Group has a proven reputation in France and many other European countries, with 70% of its turnover generated abroad. Today, it focuses on markets with high growth potential, especially e-mobility and industrialization of hydrogen activities. Easy Engineering: Which are the most futuristic products / solutions from your portfolio?

DAM: DAM Group is fully capable of testing all hydrogen vehicles, thanks to its expertise in this gas and high-pressure systems up to 900 bar. When it comes to vehicle electrification, DAM Group tests the entire fuel cell value chain, from single components such as bipolar plates to the end-of-line test bench for the complete fuel cell.

E.E: Tell us about the company’s long-term goals / prospects?

DAM: Active in hydrogen and vehicle electrification for over 7 years, DAM Group works with fuel cell start-ups through to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), with end-of-line test benches delivered throughout Europe. Our ambition is to target all sectors offering these technologies (light and heavy mobility, energy production & storage, etc.).

E.E: How do you overcome the new challenges and this more competitive environment?

DAM: DAM Group relies on the sealing and power electronics expertise acquired over more than 35 years to address these new technologies with a head start. 

Our know-how in high-speed automation for the traditional automotive industry enables us to offer future scale-up solutions for hydrogen.

The Group was one of the first to learn about the hydrogen sector years ago and went into it prepared and eager to learn more. In its search for new markets and diversification, DAM Group has been able to take risks and reap the rewards, thanks to a great capacity for adaptation and a committed vision in line with the world’s evolutions. Hydrogen and electrification prove that we can produce in a sustainable way, renewing the industry without stripping it of its core skills. DAM Group understands the need to move towards more economical and ecological energies, to make the future of industry greener.

E.E: Tell us about research and development in your company. 

DAM: Digital technology is an essential aid: the Group’s machines are now equipped with automatic devices and comprehensive, powerful software, such as TestAvenue, which was developed in-house. The Systems Engineering team, which covers automation, electrical engineering, pneumatics, and software, is the largest in the company. This ensures that the Group is always one step ahead when it comes to technology. 

Our customers are at the cutting edge of product developments such as fuel cells, batteries, inverters, etc., and ask us to provide robust, cost-effective solutions to test their products.

One of DAM Group’s core values is collective intelligence. The design of special machines is carried out in collaboration with all departments, to guarantee an optimum solution. If R&D engineers come up with more relevant solutions than those considered in the pre-sales phase, then these will be implemented in our solutions. This approach gives meaning to our teams and pushes each employee to find the best solution for the success of the project.
