Volker Haas (Managing Director) started 1989 with the production of drum chipper and conveying technology in a small double garage. This was the foundation stone for the company, which is known worldwide today. In 2019, HAAS celebrated its 30th anniversary and is not only an internationally sought-after producer of mobile and stationary waste wood and waste recycling plants, but also an important regional employer.

The 8.5-hectare company site with three modern production halls, its own varnishing shop and a four-storey administration building is located in the Westerwald, Germany.

Volker Haas still manages the company today. After completing his studies, Sascha Kloft took over international sales at HAAS and promoted the division of mobile HAAS machines. Since 2015 he has been supporting Volker Haas as the second managing director and will in steer the future fortunes of HAAS. We talked to Sascha Kloft, Managing Director, HAAS.

Easy Engineering: What are the ranges of traded products?

Daniel Cristian Mechereş: In the early days of the company HAAS used to supply individual components from here and later also complete plants for waste wood processing. At the end of the 90s, the product range was expanded to include machines for waste shredding and sorting and, in addition to stationary plants, mobile machines were also offered from that time.

Waste wood treatment plants with a cleaning degree of 99 percent are installed. We at HAAS have already been awarded special prizes twice by ISB Success as part of its innovation promotion program.

E.E:What are the main areas of activity of the company?

D.C.M: The HAAS flagship, the double-shaft primary shredder “HAAS TYRON” and the hammermill “ARTHOS” – which has been available as a mobile version for the first time since 2018 – are particularly appreciated.

With a HAAS-Plant you receive a customized solution, adjusted for your personal needs and requirements. For the application areas waste wood & biomass, waste & RDF, PVC & plastics, sawmill & residual wood and special applications such as aluminium, HAAS supplies you with customized and overall solutions and efficiency increases for existing recycling plants. Profit from our know-how in the design, development/production, delivery, mounting and start-up phase.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

D.C.M: Some of the first HAAS plants are still in operation today after almost 30 years and continue to perform their tasks reliably. We would like to keep this motivation, this team spirit and, of course, the quality standards of our products for the future. We would like to keep what we have achieved and bring it further forward in small, well-considered steps. The mobile technology sector in particular certainly still offers us a great deal of potential.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2020?

D.C.M: HAAS celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2019 and we are proud that we have achieved a great performance as a team. Difficulties that have arisen in the past have partly shown us the way anew or helped us to get new ideas.

Our expectations for 2020 are dominated by the extremely difficult economic situation and the personal restrictions caused by the spreading of the corona virus. We hope that all our employees, business partners and friends will remain healthy and that we all meet again at the IFAT in Munich in September.

On the Romanian market they already have machines and plants in operation, is there a direct contact available for interested parties in Romania?
