Marcus Hilbig: Top quality and efficient manufacturing processes involving cutting-edge technology make KASIGLAS® an expert and reliable partner for all clients. KASIGLAS® products are among the most innovative products in the market and are capable of offering man and machine the best possible protection.
KRD Sicherheitstechnik GmbH. With our innovative and customer-specific KASIGLAS® solutions, we provide protection and safety in all kinds of application areas.
KRD Coatings GmbH operates at the cutting edge of technology and turns transparent plastic into high-tech glazing. We invest in the development of new formulae at our coating development laboratory. This results in high-quality coatings with special properties such as scratch and abrasion resistance or UV protection coupled with a long service life.
KRD Engineering & Service GmbH rounds off KRD Group’s portfolio with additional products and services. It provides everything needed for the maintenance, care and processing of KASIGLAS® products. KRD Engineering & Service GmbH additionally organizes installation training or handles installation work for you.
KRD Luftfahrttechnik GmbH represents the Group’s concentrated expertise in the area of materials for intelligent lightweight construction. This is something which is both necessary and a challenge in the field of aeronautical engineering – in particular when what’s needed is top-class transparency. In short: KASIGLAS® stands for a high aesthetic standard at a low specific weight.
E.E: What special characteristics do your products have?
M.H: There is no alternative for safety when it counts to save people at work or in every day life. Our products and individual offers make the difference or even safe lives.

E.E: How do your products differ from others?
M.H: The company KRD stands for its motto of “Clear safety”.
KRD has evolved from a regional motor vehicle repair service into a global player, founded on three pillars:
- Own R&D department;
- Own lacquer production and processing;
- Own KRD technology.
It must be emphasized that all our products are high-tech “Made in Germany”.
E.E: How are they used by your clients?
M.H:
- Vehicle safety;
- Personal protective wear;
- Aviation market;
- Industry factories;
- Clean room technology;
- Municipal and urban development, etc.
E.E: What kind of problems do your clients face on the job site?
M.H: Our clients can let us know about needed new products or needed product details such as new features in composite screens and we will find a solution. We are creating prototypes and we love to develop special solutions to fill the gap in the client’s requirements.
E.E: How do your products help them overcome these problems?
M.H: Since 1967 the company KRD never stood still. Our R&D department is always working on new innovative products and outstanding further developments of already existing products in our portfolio.
Some examples:
- The screens of your vehicle are always fogged during the work? – KASIGLAS® can help to get clear view all time long.
- You are working in a heavy duty segment – KASIGLAS® will keep the driver safe because the screen absorbs the impact of flying objects.
- The screens of your vehicle are exposed to extreme weather conditions – KASIGLAS® offers compound glazings with integrated smart heating system.
- You are a policeman or service member of other forces – KASIGLAS® offers shock- and impact-resistant products.
To say it in short: We are looking for the challenge and where others throw in the towel we just start!
E.E: Tell us about the future improvement of your products?
M.H: High-tech quality products e.g. switchable screens, smart heating systems, complex shaped glazings are just some of the most wanted products of our clients. KASIGLAS® will go on and on to develop the technology for processing transparent plastic into high-tech glazings, to complete a highly innovative production line and clean room for all composite screens and to expand the product range – always true to our credo: CLEAR SAFETY.
E.E: Is there a special project that your products were used in?
M.H: Our products are used in very different types of projects all over the world.
To mention some famous projects in Europe for transparent interior design and futuristic roof constructions there are two:
Atomium Brussels:
The building was renovated from 2004 until 2006. The 180 windows are made of KASIGLAS® – wheathering resistant and UV radiation resistant.
Olympic Stadion Athens:
The roof covers 25.000 sqm and is built of 5.000 plates of KASIGLAS® – wheathering resistant and UV radiation resistant.
