Sebastian Wessels: Our best-selling products in the area of solutions are our Shieldex® EMC Enclosures. These shielding enclosures provide excellent shielding against electromagnetic radiation and can be used in many different applications and fields, including pre-compliance testing, IT forensics, and many other areas where it is important to minimize electromagnetic interference. We offer a wide range of options, including the size of the shielding enclosure, the frame system, the flooring, and the opening mechanism. Our offering ranges from small table tents to large shielding enslosures for vehicles and airplanes. Another feature is the fact that we manufacture both the shielding fabric and the shielding enclosure itself in our own production. E.E: Tell us a short tutorial of how a task is done more efficiently with one of your products / solutions.

S.W: When a customer is conducting pre-compliance tests, for example, it’s important that the testing provides accurate and reliable results, so that the device being tested can pass the final compliance test. Our Shieldex® EMC Enclosures can help with this by reducing the emission of electromagnetic radiation that can interfere with the device being tested and affect the test results.

To ensure the effective use of our shielding enclosure, we recommend that our customers set up the tents in a way that completely encloses the device being tested and ensures that there are no gaps or openings through which electromagnetic radiation can penetrate. When the enclosure is properly installed, it can maximize the shielding effectiveness and thereby improve the accuracy of pre-compliance testing.

E.E: How did your products / solutions improve efficiency for the users overall?

S.W: In order to pass the final conformity test, the test specimens must deliver accurate and reliable results. Our Shieldex® EMC Enclosures offer the perfect solution, especially in the area of pre-compliance testing, and our customers can save time and money in the process. By using the shielding tents and constantly monitoring during the development phase, expensive new developments or time-consuming tests can be avoided. This helps customers save costs and bring their products to market faster.

E.E: Give us some examples of projects in which your products / solutions were used?

S.W: Our Shieldex® EMC Enclosures have been used in many different projects to improve efficiency and quality of processes. Examples include using shielding enclosures to shield a small production setup, which allowed our customer to double their production capacity. Another example is using shielding enclosures to prevent external coupling of electromagnetic waves, thus improving the results of an EMV scan. Additionally, our shielding enclosures have also been used with ante-chambers to act as a working tent in the pre-compliance field, providing a shielded access through the ante-chamber. In the automotive industry, our shielding enclosures have been used with a one-wall lift to enable pre-compliance testing. Another project involved using shielding enclosures with an inflatable frame to create an improved measurement environment for extremely large DUTs. In one specific case, the enclosure was even used to shield an aircraft.

E.E: What products / solutions were used in these projects?

S.W: Our Shieldex® EMC Enclosures were used in all of the mentioned projects. We offer customized shielding enclosures that can be tailored to the specific needs of our customers. However, the principle is always the same: by shielding electromagnetic waves, external interference can be minimized and more reliable results can be achieved.

E.E: What was the feedback from users?

Instead, customers can perform their tests on site, which not only saves costs but also reduces the carbon footprint. Furthermore, our shielding tents are durable and can be self-repaired if needed, thanks to the included repair kit, reducing the need for new purchases and thus reducing environmental impact. The space required is also reduced by the easy set-up and tear-down of the shielding enclosures, which is particularly advantageous for smaller companies or laboratories. Overall, our products/solutions contribute to customers making their work processes more sustainable without compromising on efficiency.

E.E: What are your forecasts for the first half of 2023?

S.W: Due to the high production utilization and numerous market inquiries, we are very confident for the first half of 2023. We expect to continue the positive trend and believe that we will achieve our goals for this period. However, market developments and possible external influences such as political or economic developments always remain difficult to predict, so we will adapt flexibly if necessary.
