Interview with Serhii Kapshtyk, EMEA Manager at EuroSMC.

Easy Engineering: How was 2023 for your business, a short summary?

Serhii Kapshtyk: It was full of new, challenging and interesting projects, developments and customers. EuroSMC kept growing globally and became even closer to our valued customers by singing several strategic partnerships in key regions.

E.E: What products/services did you launch this year?

S.K: At EuroSMC we always listen to our clients and integrate their wishes and necessities into the regular updates – be it software expansion or a launch of new product. In 2023 we´ve launched a Quasar 3-C module – extension of 3 high power current channels for our secondary injection test kit Quasar. Now you can scale up your portable testing set to 4v6i configuration on the go and when you need it.

Giving our clients a wider choice of equipment within SMC product range ensures a tailored approach for any project. 2023 brought to life an expansion to our circuit breaker analyzers with new models – PME-600-T and PME-700-TR. Prepare and conduct a detailed test via your Smartphone, instantly generate pdf report on the go, have better mobility with only 5 kg of weight. Now you can easily get device that suits all of your necessities.

E.E: What are the main challenges in your field of activity?

S.K: I would say this is a common challenge for industry that has been in sight for last couple of years – components, components, components. It’s not enough to create the product; you still have to deliver it to your customer. With the semiconductor crisis we had to find new ways to keep the lead times stable, predictable and reliable.

E.E: How did you overcome these challenges in this more competitive environment?

S.K: We have a great team of Research, Development and Innovation engineers, magnificent plan and procurement department, dedicated and experienced logistics and production people. With experts like this we had a clear roadmap and plan of actions to overcome any incoming obstacles. A mix of serial production and custom made-on-order approach ensures that EuroSMC clients will receive right equipment and on time.

Serhii Kapshtyk, EMEA Manager at EuroSMC, has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Aerospace University and Project management from TÜV Rheinland Akademie. Serhii has worked in aviation & energy industries, and he is an expert in electrical test equipment for substation and protection relays.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

S.K: At EuroSMC you´ll find just what you need for comprehensive testing of protection at substations, power plants and any type of energy system. Energy demand worldwide keeps growing, and with it the energy transmission and distribution grids expand adding more and more of new substations. Continuous operation of this network is critical for industry and residents, so utilities need to meticulously and regularly service and maintain transformers, switchgears, reclosers, circuit breakers and other protection elements. Units like Raptor, PME-500-TR, Prime-600 became the real workhorses in industry.

E.E: How will product innovation help the customers?

S.K: For service industry the old motto that time is money is as important now as ever. We make our units easy to operate, and software like ROOTS, Raptor Control or Quasar Control provides the needed flexibility and scalability. Automatic evaluation of results makes reporting even faster. Now customer can wrap up the day sooner to move to another object, or complete more work in the same time.

E.E: What do you think the trends will be next year?

S.K: Versatility and portability keeps growing as an important factor for industry. And I believe this is the area where advantages of scalable and configurable units for primary current injection like Raptor C-05, or all-around relay testers like Quasar will help service teams be packed and flexible at any given moment.

E.E: What is the outlook for 2024?

S.K: Keep doing what we do the best – providing our customers just what they need, right on time and where they need it. Grow globally and of course share the experience at events like Middle East Energy, CIGRE, IEEE conference, and MATELEC. You are always welcome to visit our booth and I assure, you won´t leave disappointed.
