Since 2008, Interactive Scape offers powerful and innovative hardware and software solutions for multi-user systems on large multitouch displays. The company combines real objects with digital experiences using their world-leading capacitive object recognition technology. Interactive Scape’s applications are as varied as the requirements of customers. Whether they’re creating attractive sales areas, presenting complex information in museums or at trade fairs, imparting knowledge in educational institutions or enabling efficient collaboration within a company.

Interview with Mike Weber, Chief Commercial Officer (ppa.) at Interactive Scape.

Easy Engineering: A brief description of the company and its activities.

Mike Weber: As a first mover in the multitouch display sector, we offer a platform of modular and holistic solutions with multitouch and object recognition. With our powerful hardware components, unique capacitive object recognition and intuitive applications, we are an experienced and professional partner.

Together with our OEM and industry expert partners, we offer unique technologies with high-quality industrial components and can thus guarantee the long-term availability of our devices in form and function.

We believe that technology should empower you to bring your ideas to life. That’s why we have curated an international partner network, comprising of some of the most experienced software developers, AV-Integrators, marketing specialists and more. Hand-picked and trained to work seamlessly with our technology, you can focus on creating something truly special and trust in our joint expertise. Our partners are more than just service providers, they are true collaborators, dedicated to understanding your vision and bringing it to fruition. With their expertise and our technology, the possibilities are endless.

E.E: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

M.W: The main area of our activity is our patented, unique capacitive object recognition technology on large format multitouch displays: Scape X®.

Powered by artificial intelligence, we take multitouch object recognition to new heights of precision, clarity, and in-visibility, blending content seamlessly with real objects.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

M.W: Our newest products derive from our patented capacitive object recognition technology. With the Scape X® – product line, we offer unique solutions for the integration of tangible objects into state-of-the-art, professional multitouch hardware.

Maybe the most remarkable news on the development side is the research on our Scape X® Mobile technology where we can identify and seamlessly connect smartphones with the multitouch tables.

Next to that we have just launched our Scape X® Stickers – the fastest, most cost-effective and most flexible solution to connect any haptic object to the digital world. No bulky, big object markers anymore – just a small transparent sticker!

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

M.W: Our products range from hardware to software solutions. Whether you need a Scape® Tangible display with or without one of our table frames — Lab, Movable, and Pro — our premium hardware guarantees high quality and durability. Our frameless displays are also ideally suited for custom installation, both vertically and horizontally.

Sporting Scape X® Engine, the world’s leading object recognition module powered by AI, our latest generation of displays are the cutting-edge platform for interactive multitouch applications. With the Scape X® – Product Line of recognizable objects you can let your content come to life.

We offer the Scape X® Shape which is a handy marker that allows you to navigate and control content on multi-touch displays. The Scape X® Tags enables almost invisible detection of products of nearly any kind. Scape X® Magnify is our magnifying glass for the digital age and with the new, small Scape X® Stickers you can make every object interactive within seconds.

We also offer custom software solution ourselves. Having worked with big corporates like Mercedes, Siemens or Telekom since 2008, we have gathered an impressive expertise in shaping communication and collaboration through our technology.

On top, we have many experienced partners worldwide working with our technology and object recognition platform with their end customers – since it is accessible open-source via the TUIO protocol, any software developer can work with multitouch object recognition.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

M.W: The multitouch market is in a stage of growth. In that growing market we filled a niche claiming the leading position in the field of capacitive object recognition.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

M.W: Generally, there is a big growth in the multi-touch market worldwide. Users want individual, interactive experiences instead of one-way communication. And since everyone uses touchscreens on a daily basis now, the addition of haptic objects arouses curiosity on a new level and adds especially value when it comes to multi user scenarios.
Also, the variety of use cases increases from day to day. With its reliability, multitouch object recognition technology is now finding more and more use in critical processes – e.g. from smart city to smart decision making and planning.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

M.W: Our most innovative is our patented object recognition technology Scape X®. It is a genuinely new approach, since it uses not just touch points for recognition. We can train our displays to recognize and differentiate objects as such by their unique capacitive effect. Therefore we just started here with the Scape X® products and the mobile recognition, much more to come!

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?

M.W: We estimate that our technological advance in object recognition and our position as the world leading company in that field will lead to significant growth in 2023.

As the demand for our products is increasing drastically and getting more and more international, we also expect an even bigger interest in joining our partner network.
