INTERVIEW WITH AAT GMBH

AAT GmbH was founded in 1993, though the employees’ expertise is drawn from more than 30 years of experience in biogas plant construction. AAT supplies anaerobic plants (biogas plants) for processing organic waste materials which simultaneously generate energy. The company’s core competence lies in systems for treating and processing industrial production waste materials, food waste, renewable raw materials, agricultural substrates and municipal sludge.

AAT’s primary services includes planning, consulting, construction management, equipment supply, start-up support and after-sales service. Thanks to their extensive knowledge they provide specifically tailored plant concepts and sophisticated standard solutions.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

AAT: Our main areas of activity are biogas plants and wastewater treatment plants.

E.E: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?

AAT: Two examples for our innovative developments are the big scale biogas desulphurisation and the hydrogen flare.

E.E: What are the ranges of traded products?

AAT: AAT offers the following main components: substrate pretreatment systems, fermenters, agitators, gas holders, gas extraction equipment, desulphurisation plants, gas flares, control and safety devices and control systems. The input materials determine the technology used. AAT offers unique solutions for an extremely wide range of demands.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

AAT: The biogas market is a growing market around the world. As the demand for renewable energy is rising, biogas can provide clean power and heat production. Converting waste to energy means that the need for this technology will be present as long as waste must be disposed.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

AAT: One aspect is the move of the biogas industry towards biomethane production. The raw biogas can be upgraded to biomethane downstream from the biogas plant. The biomethane replaces fossil natural gas and can e.g. be fed into the gas grid.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

AAT: All our products are constantly developed. Specifically tailored plants are always state of the art technology.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?

AAT: We are working on several big projects around the world which will keep us busy in 2021. As governments all around the world promote renewable energies, the future for biogas looks promising. We hope the effects of Covid-19 pandemic will be turned into new efforts to tackle the energy transition.
