INTERVIEW WITH ADDITIUM TECHNOLOGIES

Additium Technologies is an engineering company formed by professionals with more than 25 years of direct experience in the design, manufacturing, supply and support of custom-made test systems for Automotive, Aerospace and Railway Industries.

Interview with Jorge De Goyeneche, Business Development Director at Additium Technologies.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Jorge De Goyeneche: We are specifically focused on the automotive market with custom-made active and passive safety test systems, and supplying turn-key projects

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

J.D.G: ADDITIUM has created a new family of actuators for our Multi E-Launcher Test Systems. The new actuators family combines the electromagnetic technology, based on linear electrical motors, with mechanical and pneumatic forces which are working together in some of the intervals of the propulsion phase. These combinations provide excellence performances in a compact design, if you compare with the traditional hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder solution. ADDITIUM’s actuator can provide 10 times better speed accuracy and repeatability, with a clean&safe technology.

This is especially important for tests involving airbags (pedestrian protection, misuse, component testing). The state of the art control technology allows full synchronism in the propulsion phase with the airbag deployment. This technological leap makes it possible to use the usual procedures for testing airbags, notably improving test results.

Additium’s custom-made e-launchers for airbag development:

Additium’s modular design:

Through an interface plate of our system, the different test modules can be connected plug & play, so that a single system and actuator is used to perform the entire range of necessary tests.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

J.D.G: Additium has special focus on the automotive market.  We provide solutions for Full Scale Crash Test Facilities, E-Launchers (Pedestrian Protection & Component Test), Crash Simulation Systems, Electrical Seat Belt Anchorages, Electrical Head Restraint Performance and other component level test rigs.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

J.D.G: We have a worldwide accumulated professional experience base as we already working with world’s top OEM’s such as VW, GM, SEAT, FAW, etc…, with airbag manufacturers such as Autoliv, ZF, Yanfeng, JinHeng, East Joylong, etc., and leading Tier 1 manufacturers such as Lear, Faurecia, Toyota Boshoku, etc. Passive safety will keep being essential, especially for the future autonomous driving, so e we will keep supporting our customers, sharing knowledge and expertise, and adding value to a safer and sustainable world.

Jorge De Goyeneche, Business Development Director at Additium Technologies

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

J.D.G: From the perspective of industrial development, safety test, as a service link in the development of the whole industry, has promoted the progress of a series of related markets, such as R&D lab, homologation center, research institution, professional training, etc.

However, development means facing challenges. With the continuous improvement of automotive technology, it is inevitable for each country to put forward higher requirements for safety testing technology and system.

Additium provides professional support for our customers in front of these challenges in the future: technology in line with international and future standards, intelligent system control, professional training for customer. Additium believes the future direction of the safety testing solutions should be economical, reliable, safe, and sustainable.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

J.D.G: Our custom-made E-launcher family for future sophisticated airbags development. It provides fully synchronization with deployment of airbag, not only adopt the clean technology, but also guarantees a long-life to meet with future requirements. The modular design allows the manufactures to test all types of airbags.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2022?

J.D.G: For the near future, we are looking forward to obtaining great harvest in Automotive Testing Expo in United States. We’re glad to meet our friends and colleagues in this marvelous whole safety industry get-together event.
