INTERVIEW WITH ADVANCED DRAINAGE SYSTEMS

Advanced Drainage Systems, a provider of water management solutions, is a publicly traded, $2 billion FY21 revenue corporation with a global network of 63 manufacturing plants and 32 distribution centers.

Interview with Tori Durliat, Director of Marketing at Advanced Drainage Systems.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Tori Durliat: ADS water management solutions are used in the stormwater, sanitary sewer and on-site septic wastewater industries, providing superior drainage solutions for use in the construction and agriculture. The company manufactures thermoplastic pipe from four to 60 inches in diameter and other products used to capture, convey, store and treat stormwater in residential, commercial, infrastructure and agriculture projects.  Some of the company’s other products are its line of StormTech Chambers which are used in underground stormwater detention projects and the Barracuda, a high-performance, vortex hydrodynamic separator that removes total suspended solids (TSS) and offers quick installation and multiple pipe configurations.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

T.D: ADS continually develops new products to meet the needs of the market.  Two of the latest are:

The ADS EcoPure BioFilter Urban Stormwater Management Unit that can remove 85 percent of total suspended solids and 70 percent of dissolved phosphorus, and engineered for low-impact developments (LID) and green infrastructure projects requiring design flexibility, application of diverse plant life and hassle-free installation and maintenance.  The device, which is available is multiple sizes ranging from 4 feet by 8 feet (smallest) to 10 feet by 20 feet (largest), is appropriate for new construction and retrofit commercial jobs.

The ADS 12-Inch Nyloplast® Universal Inline Drain that is designed for easy installation, flexibility and long-term reliable performance and easily connects to round, dome and square grates of various designs.  It comes standard with a six-inch hole designed to match the grate inlet capacity and allowing the end user to install without any additional effort.  The universal inline drain can be easily adjusted on site and connected to all commonly used types of plastic pipes up to 12-inch diameter.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

T.D: All the markets that we serve are highly active at this time.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

T.D: The markets and the industries we serve are increasingly requesting products that are resilient and sustainable.  ADS has developed a ten-year program of sustainability initiatives in accordance with its corporate policy of reducing its environmental impact while developing and producing products that protect the environment.  Additionally, ADS currently uses more than 550 million pounds of recycled plastic annually in our products.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

T.D: Since 1966 when ADS developed corrugated HDPE pipe, we have continued to design and manufacturer innovated products that includes high-strength polypropylene pipe, plus components and structures that protect the environment, because our reason is water.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?

T.D: We will continue to provide environmentally sound products.
