Interview with Dr. Zhaopeng Chen, Founder and CEO of Agile Robots.
Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
Zhaopeng Chen: Agile Robots AG focuses on sectors like manufacturing. Therefore, we deliver robotic solutions for automotive and companies that are producing consumer electronics like smartphones. Furthermore, we also have clients from healthcare and pharmaceutical since our robotic solutions also work without any problems in these sectors.
E.E: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?
Z.C: We will finally release our first robot arm that will work in different sectors in various case scenarios. This will be possible due to our software that is capable to be modified easily according to the needs of our clients.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
Z.C: Beside robot arms we are also developing robotic hands. Furthermore, we will offer software solutions that are able to work with robots of other manufacturers. Our goal is that clients can upgrade their robots with our software for new abilities. Also, we are developing a customized automated robotic solution.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
Z.C: The robotics market is well established and rapidly growing, but undergoing significant changes with technological advances like AI. And we are offering state-of-the-art products within our industry. Furthermore, many of our employees worked for the German Aerospace Center. Therefore, we are able to establish technologies that are already performing well in space in the society and economy.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
Z.C: We see an ongoing shift from manual functioning to automation in different sectors like manufacturing. That is really pushing the demand for robotic solutions. Furthermore, industrial robots do not only assist in high payload lifting anymore. Robots take over mundane and even dangerous tasks so that the human employees can focus on other duties. Also, smart factory concepts become more and more popular thanks to robotic solutions. This will boost the market in potential ways. Moreover, we see that manufacturers focus on research and development activities in order to integrate AI and smart robotic solutions into their work streams.
All in all, the market is rapidly expanding.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
Z.C: It is our highly dexterous robotic arm and its intelligent software.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?
As the robotic market is rapidly expanding, the demand for customized automated robotic solutions will be enormous. We expect Agile Robots’ products and solutions to be applied in more and more industries in Europe. Our ultimate goal is to help the human collaborate with robots more efficiently and smoothly.
