INTERVIEW WITH ANNOVI REVERBERI

Quality is a byword for the Annovi Reverberi empire ever since it was founded in 1958. “Over the years we’ve noticed that those who choose our products rarely swap to another brand,” commented Federica Reverberi, Business Development Manager.

Annovi Reverberi is a global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of diaphragm pumps for agricultural clients, piston pumps for the corporate industrial sector, and high-pressure washers, vacuum cleaners, ash cleaners, water pumps and sprayers for the cleaning industry. Innovation began early thanks to Ms Reverberi’s grandfather, Corrado, who along with his business partner Umberto Annovi, started the business in 1958, producing diaphragm pumps for the agriculture sector.

The company began exporting in 1962 and launched a subsidiary in 1989 in the USA, under AR North America Inc. The late-80s saw the creation of Blitz, the first portable 100 bar high-pressure washer, which was recently restyled and released for the anniversary. In 1995, a new factory was established in Bomporto, near Modena, to specialize in the cleaning division’s manufacturing of professional high-pressure washers and logistic of vacuum cleaners, windows cleaners, ash cleaners and water pumps.

Moreover, in the 1990’s the company witnessed the birth of the RKV piston pump and gained a significant foothold in the US. The 21st century has been extremely positive, with Annovi Reverberi acquiring Ravel Srl, an Italian company producing electric motors; while 2005 saw the formation of SARPP in Shanghai, which manufacturers some models of piston pumps.

In 2006, AR Blue Clean was born, a brand referring to both cold and hot water high-pressure washers for industrial and domestic use. It also launched AR 410-460 bp which is the first diaphragm pump with plastic manifolds. Over the last 10 years, the company has established a business distributing products in Asia, bought XForm, an Italian firm which deals with all design, rendering, marketing and social activities, and developed new products, such as the AR Blue Clean range for the US. 2018 saw significant business, with the acquisition of Memphis-based Ace Pump Corporation, one of the largest producers of centrifugal pumps for the agriculture sector; a product complementary to AR’s diaphragm pumps. The company now employs 600 people, of which 330 are in Italy, and had a turnover of €207 million.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

ANNOVI REVERBERI: Agricultural with the production of diaphragm and centrifugal pumps for spraying and deicing, Industrial with the production of high pressure piston pumps and Cleaning with the production of high pressure washers, vacuum cleaners, sprayers and water pumps.

E.E: What’s the news for 2020 about new products?

ANNOVI REVERBERI: The agricultural division has developed new modular pumps that reach higher flow rates, while the industry unit is trying to attain a 1,000 pressure bar for its piston pumps. Moreover, we have launched the new AR Blue Clean pressure washer with patented dual technology, the world’s first with two in-built engines. They allow the ability to adjust pressure to help improve performance and time. Next year we will launch the first high pressure washer with spraying function integrated, the DHS AR Blue Clean Pressure Washer that will be really useful not only for cleaning but also for sanitizing and disinfection purposes.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

ANNOVI REVERBERI: I think a markup stage. In fact, all our products are marketed globally, however while most turnover comes from Europe and USA, we want to strengthen in Asia, Africa and South America. We are also heavily investing in online marketing and online sales, through leaders such as Amazon. Our challenge is to be able to combine the traditional method of offline sales with the new online one. Critical to our success is the ability to provide a fully customized, fully-tested product, guaranteeing great quality, and our innovative flair and capacity to predict market trends and customer needs keep us ahead of our competitors.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

ANNOVI REVERBERI: Online will be more and more important. Another important factor will be the ability to differentiate products and provide fully customized solutions for customers. Moreover, service will be more and more important, in the next years we will surely invest in new service platforms in order to achieve fully digital service material. Last but not least: INNOVATION, ALWAYS.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

ANNOVI REVERBERI: Our company is a perfect match between Italian craftsmanship and innovation which can satisfy the customer’s needs. While remaining close to our territory, traditions and values, we never underestimate the importance of investing in innovation. The company invests annually in R&D to guarantee constant product innovation, the search for new models and eco-friendly materials, while advancing towards digitalization, with a link for new online distributors and an integrated website about all three divisions. For sure one of the best innovations of the recent years has been DTS and DHS patented pressure washers. The first pressure washers with two motor pumps and two functions integrated.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2020?

ANNOVI REVERBERI: Construction of a new headquarters in Modena is also underway, to incorporate all agricultural, industrial and cleaning divisions, as well as a new R&D unit, a new test room, and training area. Logistics will remain at Bomporto. 2020 has been a tough year however we will finish with + sign and we are very proud about it. Recent investments at Annovi Reverberi have included the purchase of a robotised cell for the processing of agricultural and piston pumps in addition to the construction of new assembly lines and new testing areas. We have continued to invest in Annovi Reverberi and AR Blue Clean brands but also in several brands in licensing and OEM we have such as Stanley Black + Decker, Michelin, Bosch, Stiga, Makita. Remaining as a family business has certainly helped us grow. But we are proud to have created a safe environment where we all work in harmony together as our success is down to the people working for us.
