INTERVIEW WITH AZZURRO DIGITALE

Azzurro Digitale, a start-up founded in 2015, is an ecosystem that aims to design and develop innovative technology solutions, focusing on growing market niches where Digital Transformation is a competitive advantage’s driver. To date, it is specializing in Industry 4.0 and is divided into three business areas: AzzurroDigitale Consulting, AzzurroDigitale Machine Integration and AWMS.

The collaboration with Electrolux led Azzurro Digitale to developed AWMS, the first vertical Workforce Management software. In 2019 it became a spin-off and the following year it became part of the Zucchetti group, the leading software house in Italy.

AWMS is a digital solution that allows to schedule your manufacturing and /or logistics workforce in an equal, respectful and efficient way.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Azzurro Digitale: Our software is designed to help factories manage their workforce, mainly their scheduling, absence management, safety and skills. Our workforce management software’s main features are:

  • Blue collars scheduling, while taking into account other factors such as availability, skills, and labor laws to improve efficiency and reduce labor costs.
  • Time and Attendance Tracking, including clocking in and out, breaks, and overtime.
  • Workforce Analytics and Reporting, including labor costs, productivity, and turnover. This can help businesses identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions to optimize their workforce.
  • Compliance with labor laws and regulations, such as overtime, scheduling laws, and minimum wage requirements in order to reduce the risk of legal penalties and fines.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

Azzurro Digitale: Our team has developed Azzurra, a mobile app that can be downloaded directly to your smartphone, which is designed for manufacturing plants, enabling a two-way exchange of communications, information and requests among the company, managers and operators.

Azzurra Staff provides blue collars with a direct and engaging way to communicate with the company, by allowing them to manage their absences, check schedules and read communications.

Azzurra Leader allows managers to plan, manage absences and communicate with blue collars, directly from their smartphones.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

Azzurro Digitale: AWMS is a SaaS platform for workforce management, born from the collaboration between WFM specialists and managers of manufacturing companies with the aim of “putting the right people, in the right place at the right time, while respecting their safety”, within logistics and manufacturing facilities.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

Azzurro Digitale: The Italian manufacturing industry is among the most important sectors of the country’s economy.

Overall, the industry we work in is deemed a mature market, as it has been established many years ago and has a strong track record of innovation and quality. Nevertheless, it also faces challenges, such as increased competition from emerging markets, changing consumer needs and the need to embrace new digital technologies to improve efficiency and sustainability.

These challenges are pushing a shift towards more advanced manufacturing techniques, such as Industry 4.0, which involves integrating automation, data exchange, and other technologies in order to create smart factories.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

Azzurro Digitale: The manufacturing industry is increasingly moving towards Industry 4.0 and digital factories by integrating automation, data exchange, and other technologies to develop smart factories and optimize production processes. By leveraging emerging technologies, such as AI, IoT, and schedulers, SaaS companies can help manufacturers stay competitive and adjust to the rapidly changing market.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?

Azzurro Digitale: Our goal is to be the leading manufacturing and logistics workforce management app.
