INTERVIEW WITH BENEVELLI

Benevelli was founded in 1962. The company is located exactly in the heart of the Motor Valley, between the provinces of Modena and Reggio Emilia. This area has seen the growth and development of engines and transmissions over the past century.

During 1996 the actual CEO Alberto Benevelli start the production of the electric powertrains. Benevelli operates mainly on the eMobility market, with three macro categories of products: transaxles, electric motors and motor wheels.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

BENEVELLI: We export all over the World, from Far East to Americas, but the main areas are Europe and North America, our exportation are 80% of our turnover. We follow 6 main sectors that’s the following: construction, agriculture, material handling, eMobility, cleaning and marine.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

BENEVELLI: We recently launch in production our new wheel drive WD220 Serie. 

It’s smaller, lighter, and more efficient permanent magnet electric motors to deliver the torque, output, and long-life performance required for industrial machinery and off-highway mobile equipment.

It has already a lot of success of our customers. 

Benevelli is always on the move, for this reason during Spring 2022 we will be ready with our new Serie of IPM Motors, the SMAC 270 Serie.

These Serie will have motors that will reach up to 200kW.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

BENEVELLI: Each product is modular, we cover a range from 300W to 200kW  for electric motors and maximum torques from 150Nm to 3.000Nm about transmissions.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

BENEVELLI: 75% of our turnover involve supplying to construction, agriculture and material handling sector anyway we see eMobility and marine coming stronger in the next decades.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

BENEVELLI: Electrification market is growing up every Year. All the Companies that were making ICE are no more thinking to go in electric, but they are really doing it. 

We as Benevelli we are helping many of these to electrify their machines and ideas. In addition, the consolidated customers are doing more application every Year. The whole world is destinated to goes in electric in the next 20-25 years max.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

BENEVELLI: The SMAC Serie motors, interior permanent magnet (IPM) synchronous motors have advantages such as high torque and power density over a wide speed range when compared to conventional permanent magnet, synchronous reluctance and induction machine technologies.

We have a unique range of motor, probably the biggest range in the market now.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?

BENEVELLI: The trend of the market will be the same, so very good. We expect a growth closet o 20% on 2022.

However, the factor will condition the trend will be the global situation of component shortage that seems to continue also next Year.
