SEVENTH DUBAI BRIDGES was started by Hendrik van der Ham and carries on the expertise of BRIDGES2000, which was founded in 1999 in the Netherlands, BRIDGES2000 began as a company that builds and rents bridges and has subsequently grown into a project development company. In a world where safety is increasingly important, where connections are essential in achieving quality of life and work, BRIDGES2000 strives to be the leading flexible builder of all kinds of connections including Bridges, Gangways and other access products.

Interview with Hendrik van der Ham, Founder and Head of Operations at Bridges2000.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Hendrik van der Ham: The company builds and constructs and also offers product development and engineering. It develops bridges, gangways, fenders, docks and pontoons. While most products are rented, some can also be bought. 

BRIDGES Dubai offers its services and solutions to the Marine, General Maritime, Offshore, Shipping Agents, Shipowners, Shipping Agents and other Companies in the port, including refineries, municipalities, construction companies & contractors as well as to people who need a bridge to their home or garden.

The offers both a temporary and permanent solution for safe connections. For example, besides building bridges and gangways, we also address the demand for a temporary extra access to a terrace on the water and providing safe connections in the form of temporary structures for events.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

H.v.d.H: Hendrik van der Ham, the founder of SEVENTH Bridges Dubai, has considerable experience in large-scale shipping and construction projects. Motivated to realize his vision for resilient sustainability, in 2007, Hendrik started SEVENTH which is inspired by the legendary Atlantis and has been created from a prophecy and his lucid dreams that lasted exactly 40 nights. The project includes a floating island with a merkaba consisting of a large pyramid building surrounded by six smaller ones, to be replicated in 10 cities around the world. Seventh’s philosophy: ‘The Other Way of Living’ and the project vision includes an island where healthy living and sustainability are central to elevating the future of living. To continue building his vision for a sustainable future, Hendrik founded two other companies – Seventh Project Development BV and Seventh Bridges Project Management Services – companies to launch the Seventh Project. 

E.E: What are the range of products offered?

H.v.d.H: The services, solutions and projects for BRIDGES2000 and SEVENTH range from construction of large structures, floating island, merkaba, pyramid buildings, health and wellness centers, Permanent Bridges, Gangways. Pontoons. Bridges2000 builds beautiful gangways, (temporary) bridges and jetties. The company is solution-oriented, building safe, fast and affordable connections. 

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

H.v.d.H: The market for Bridges and floating habitats is growing steadily over the past 5 years. The demand for bridges is not dependent on economic cycles and governments across the world are committed to providing safe connections.  With the UAE government, we are especially focused on further developing floating habitats. Both BRIDGES Dubai and SEVENTH are well-equipped to meet the requirements with its expertise and flexible solutions.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

H.v.d.H: The market is moving towards light, flexible construction material where sustainability is a top priority. Environmentally friendly bridges and habitats are the future. BRIDGES DUBAI is focused high quality and low maintenance solutions; our project management and design embeds sustainability goals as we are sincerely committed to the ESG vision and goals. 

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

H.v.d.H: Most of the gangways and bridges that the company sells and rents are made of light aluminum. Those lightweight systems offer several advantages for the customers and are very safe to use. 

SEVENTH is focused on building 70 pyramid shaped buildings around the world. The founder’s vision is that the buildings will be portals for innovating tomorrow’s world and the best place to be, either for living, recreation, health or for business. 

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2022?

H.v.d.H: The company has 5000+ Satisfied customers and 7000+ Bridges rented out. The company will further its mission of building and supplying reliable floating habitats, bridges and gangway connections.
