INTERVIEW WITH BUZIL

Buzil is the competent problem solver and reliable partner for first-class and at the same time efficient cleaning in almost all areas. Based on more than 100 years of experience, the family-owned company continuously develops, produces and sells new cleaning and care products for the highest demands. In addition to professional building cleaning, the areas of application also include sector-specific applications in industry, hotels and restaurants as well as in old people’s homes and care facilities. The outstanding products, the constant development of new application solutions and of the services help Buzil customers in more than 35 countries to make their everyday work easier and more efficient.

In addition, the Private Label business unit implements individual customer wishes from the initial idea to the finished product in a tailor-made way.

For Buzil, perfectly clean and also perfectly sustainable are always the top priority.

Interview with Adam Stawski, Head of Sales International Buzil.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Adam Stawski: The main areas of activity are development, production and selling of cleaning und care products. Buzil also offers different services for the professional cleaning sector and its workers, e.g. online-seminars for further education, cleaning adviser and a lot of hands-on tips and tricks for the daily work.

E.E: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?

A.S: In 2021 we already introduced the new products Buz® Air Ambra G 564, a ready-to-use air freshener with active odor blocker and Planta® Soap Green P 310 an eco-certified hand-washing soap. In 2021 there are only these two products because in 2020 we introduced six new products: Lavender fragrance oil Buz® Provence G 565, a detergent for colored and delicate laundry Buz® Laundry Color+ L 821, liquid bleaching agents Buz® Laundry Chlorin L 833, hand disinfectant SE 110, Surface disinfectant SE 112 and surface disinfectant cleaner SE 113 – all three disinfectants are ready-to-use products.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

A.S: In total, we have about 150 different products. There are different product ranges for floors, different surfaces, disinfection, the cleaning of sanitary areas and kitchen, laundry and special ranges like air freshener, skin care and protection products. Also, we have a special product range: The Planta® line. The Planta® line consists of eco-certified (EU-Ecolabel and the Austrian ecolabel) products in all application areas mentioned above.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

A.S: The market is slowly changing to more sustainability and protection of the environment / environment-friendly products. Also, the impact of the pandemic plays a major part in the market change: The tourism-sector is nearly collapsed in many regions. Hotels, restaurants, cinemas and gyms are closed and do not need to be cleaned. Also, schools and kindergartens are partly closed or not used in that frequency as before. Because of this the demand on cleaning products in this sector is still declining. On the other hand, the cleaning industry moved more in the focus of the public and also the recognition of the cleaning industry has increased.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

A.S: In general, the market is moving to more sustainability. The cleaning products and their packaging getting more and more sustainability. This includes e.g. more sustainable raw materials or the usage of plastic recycles on the packaging. There are many different approaches, e.g. there are attempts of the usage of solid tabs instead of liquid concentrates. But this creates other problems like various product performance because of the different water hardness in the different regions. Until now there is no general way for the goal of more sustainability.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

A.S: The most innovative products are products which are more sustainable and also products which bring more safety to the user. One example is that all Buzil products are already free of butyl glycol which is under suspicion of causing cancer. Buzil is here the first manufacturer which replaced butyl glycol from all products. Also, the Planta® line is still very innovative despite its long history (over 15 years) because of its sustainability which is also official certified.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?

A.S: It is pretty difficult to give a good estimation for 2021. We assume that 2021 will be a tough year. But this is very strong related to external influences and circumstances, e.g. more lockdowns or slowly going back to normal life with open hotels, restaurants and so on. But in general, we are optimistic for the future.
