Interview with Leonardo Braga, Department Manager at Canarail Service Srl.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Leonardo Braga: International leader in the integrated treatment of process air in different market: textile, nonwoven, converting & packaging, diapers, tissue and others.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

L.B: The news is many, but basically, we are designing in all our systems the possibility to stay even closer to the production lines (where the products and the employees are located) to reduce energy waste and consequently reduce management costs. Obviously, our latest generation systems, are all Atex by design.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

L.B: Canalair specializes in filtration, humidification, air conditioning, ventilation and heating in industrial contexts.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

L.B: The main markets followed by Canalair have had different attitudes, in the conventional textile market from 2020 (the year of the beginning of the pandemic situation), is completely stopped and only since the middle of 2021 it is started with new investments. The hygienic market (non-woven fabrics and diapers) continued to push, even more than normal due to obvious interests in product availability (masks, disposable clothing for hospitals, diapers, etc.). The difficulty still remains that of traveling in Europe and, even more, in countries outside Europe.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

L.B: The market trends is leading us to see two situations, on the one side we find a market that is increasingly faster and more competitive, that is a market that show us something new every day. On the other side, another kind of market that goes very slowly in terms of availability of raw materials and continuous delays in delivery times by suppliers. These two speeds don’t help the business, because if you want to keep up with innovation you necessarily need raw materials and supplies. In addition to all this, the increase in the prices of raw materials has also negatively the impacted in the business.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

L.B: For us, innovation means giving a benefit to the customer and we want to do it with tangible and concrete elements that bring us added value through numbers / data. We use technologies that allow us to have significant energy savings, 100% recovery of raw materials, heat recovery and the optimization of our systems.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?

L.B: We are very positive for this 2022, we are investing a lot in tools and processes, the new chief business development officer has joined the team, we have opened a new R&D office in one of the most important technological innovation districts in Europe (Kilometro Rosso) and we really want to show to the world new interesting components e new system in the next few years.
