Interview with Ajit Thomas, Chief Marketing Officer at Cavli Wireless.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Ajit Thomas: Cavli Wireless primarily operates as a cellular IoT module manufacturer, specializing in the design and manufacturing of industrial-grade smart modules. These modules play a crucial role in enhancing equipment reliability and streamlining application development processes in the IoT space. Our activities encompass various stages of the value chain, including research, design, manufacturing, and customer support. We work closely with our clients to understand their specific requirements and provide customized solutions that meet their needs.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

A.T: Cavli has its next line of C-Series state-of-the-art Cellular IoT modules, the C16QS, CQS290, and the C10QM  available now for global deployment.

C16QS is an LTE Cat 1.bis module supporting 3GPP release 14 specifications for IoT and M2M applications. It delivers maximum data rates up to 10 Mbps downlink and 5 Mbps uplink. C16QS supports an optional integrated GNSS making it ideal for location-tracking applications. C16QS also comes with an optional integrated eSIM supporting global connectivity via Cavli Hubble Device and connectivity management platform. C16QS comes in two region-specific variants, C16QS-EA for EMEA and APAC regions and C16QS-NA for North America Region.

C10QM is the series of LTE Cat 1 /LTE Cat 4 modules with 2G fallback supporting 3GPP release 10 designed for IoT and M2M applications which come with the integrated GNSS. They come in 2 variants – C10QM-EA for the Europe and Asia markets and C10QM-NA for the North American market. The C10QM is ideal for IoT applications such as asset tracking, e-mobility, data loggers, fleet management, and environmental monitoring.

CQS290 is the LTE Cat 4 module from the Cavli C-Series module family that supports data rates up to 150 Mbit/s in downlink and 50 Mbit/s in uplink with 2G fallback. The Android smart module is equipped with the Cortex A53 quad-core CPU architecture with built-in Adreno 702 GPU delivering higher graphics capabilities, better quality images, and excellent power performance. The module supports Qualcomm LA2.1 automotive middleware that supports advanced features such as Telemetry and Device management functionalities for connected 2-wheelers.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

A.T: Cavli’s range of products includes the C-Series Smart Cellular IoT Modules, which are connectivity modules with in-built eSIM technology, pre-loaded with global cellular connectivity subscriptions. Cavli C-Series modules are designed for substantial field life and minimal field support, making them ideal for IoT product makers looking to quickly model and launch cellular devices in multiple segments and geographies worldwide. The compact design, network switch & fallback options, and easy global deployment makes the C-Series line of modules a favorite among IoT OEMs.

The Cavli C42GM is a single-mode LTE Cat M1/NB1/NB2 (upgradable to Release 14) compatible Smart Cellular Module based on 3GPP Release 13, that comes with an integrated eSIM. It is designed with the latest ultra-low power consumption technology of 2uA in deep sleep mode and has high carrier-class network security. It also comes with integrated GNSS & Sigfox.
