INTERVIEW WITH DAISALUX

Daisalux is a company based in Spain dedicated to the manufacture of Emergency Lighting solutions. The whole manufacturing process of the luminaire is carried out in-house, extending from the moment it is devised by company’s engineers, who focus on design, optics, integration and sustainability, until its final commercialization and distribution.

Daisalux offers customers strong technical expertise and superior customer service. In addition to that, their Project Department offers free-of-charge lighting calculations for lighting projects, ensuring strict regulations compliance and certification. The company has their own software for light distribution simulation.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

DAISALUX: Daisalux is based in Spain, where it is the leading manufacturer in the most iconic and major projects. However, it also shines in some of the most iconic buildings worldwide.

The main sectors where our lights are used range from hotels, office buildings, retail, concert halls and universities to congress centres, historic buildings, churches, hospitals, etc.

E.E: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?

DAISALUX: During the pandemic, Daisalux has developed innovative products, which include a fully integrated signage range (our IKUSMET and VIRSC) , a brand new luminaire with the most optimized optics and photometric curves, called NAOS, a new emergency downlight to integrate in profiles (IZAR-SM), a new LED watertight fitting (called ”Estanca) and new LED Emergency Converter Kits, to mention some of them.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

DAISALUX: Our portfolio includes:

  • •self-contained emergency lights (with own battery backup)
  • •A full range of emergency signage
  • •centralised emergency fittings
  • •central battery systems, low power battery systems and some other power units with battery and other control systems
  • •beacon lighting
  • •large venue high-power emergency lights.

We offer a highly architectural and technical range of products and bespoke fittings upon request.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

DAISALUX: Our company is at present focusing on expanding the business internationally. At the moment we have two subsidiaries in France and the UK, where Daisalux is present in renowned buildings, like the Louvre Museum bookshop in Paris.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

DAISALUX: In our sector, there is a rising trend in some markets to use centralized DALI protocols and other kind of Building Management Systems.  

In self-contained luminaires, our customers demand lights which are able to integrate and blend into any space.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

DAISALUX: Our most innovative products are:

  • The ATRIA, a second to none high-power emergency light deployed in iconic buildings, such as the Wanda Metropolitan Stadium for the Athletico de Madrid, in Spain;
  • THE IKUSMET and VIRSC, sleek advanced and highly integrated signaling luminaires;
  • The new NAOS, which has been created as the most unexpensive luminaire with the best features and all kind of installation modes that we have ever had so far. It features the most state-of-the-art technology and a micro-structured surface in its diffuser which projects the light in the most efficient possible way.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?

DAISALUX: We expect to continue our international expansion after the summer now that borders are open again. In the short term, our most immediate objective is to increase our sale figures of 2020.
