INTERVIEW WITH DBM

Founded in 1981, DBM is an Italian Company with over 40 years of experience in the design and manufacturing of heat exchangers. The company supplies almost 50.000 heat exchangers per year manufactured on their two Italian productions sites located in the north of Italy, Varallo Pombia and Artegna. Orientation to the customer needs, welfare of the employees and continuous improvement represent DBM’s main values.

Interview with Daniele Brunetti, General Manager at DBM.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Daniele Brunetti: We supply about 30% of our production for Italian clients while we export over 70% of our production to all Europe and over the world as Australia, USA and North Africa.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

D.B: There are no really new products talking about heat exchangers. Most of the innovation and news are contained in thermal rating and engineering software tools as well in the level of services provided to the market.

Here we can easily say that we are one of most innovative company. We heavily invest and believe in R&D. For example, we have recently released an internally developed innovative rating software for energy recovery systems based on finite volume method. Such a software can evaluate impact on performances of different internal circuits arrangements and reliably predict performances when fluids are in cross flow and difference in temperatures very small. We have also setup a testing ring to measure with extreme precision performances of our products. Collected data are used to improve thermal selection software and to validate specific projects.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

D.B: Our heat exchangers range from HVAC systems installations, to larger and more complex applications such as Gas Turbine Air Intake Cooling Systems, Marine & Offshore, Energy recovery and specialized Industrial Processes (food, textile, Pulp & Paper, clean rooms, etc.).

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

D.B: The market is expanding and evolving thanks to new applications, great demand and research also aimed at environmental sustainability.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

D.B: Market is currently very sensitive about energy recovery applications and new “green” refrigerants used within air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

D.B: Some innovative products are the CO2 gas coolers, ORC coils, Dry V coolers, Titanium coils and Special heat exchangers for Industry.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?

D.B: Estimation is to increase our revenues of more than 10%, to penetrate new areas and to evaluate vertical or horizontal merges or acquisitions.
