INTERVIEW WITH dcbel

Ossiaco is an innovation, product development and sales company which has developed and patented breakthrough technology for bi-directional AC><DC electricity conversion. Instead of centralized utility thinking, the company has re-imagined home energy with people in mind. dcbel brings to worldwide residential markets an entirely new classification of product – smart energy for the smart solar home and electric mobility power management.

Easy Engineering: A brief description of the company and its activities.

Dcbel: From the point of view of electrical energy, we live in an alternating current (AC) world. As the world necessarily moves ever more quickly to renewable sources of energy generation, electric mobility and energy storage in batteries, ordinary people are producing, consuming and converting increasing amounts of direct current (DC).

Improving the quality of life of the many and “moving the needle” on climate change will require the mass adoption of DC based generation, storage and mobility technologies and their co-existence with established AC technologies. Mass adoption requires affordability and one of the important factors in achieving affordability is economical and seamless bi-directional AC><DC conversion.

At Dcbel, we have combined, in a single elegant unit, our novel bi-directional power conversion technology, powerful grid edge and cloud-based data processing, proprietary energy management and optimization algorithms, machine learning and secure communications. It sounds complicated, but our consumer-friendly designs and interfaces simplify the individual, family and community passage to a better future. Dcbel’s dcbel™ line of products is music to the ears of those who care about our families, care about our communities and care about our planet.

E.E: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Dcbel: Innovation at the leading edge of distributed electric power that covers the electric mobility, solar power, battery storage and residential energy management industries.

E.E: What’s the news for 2020 about new products?

In Q4 2020 we are launching our flagship dcbelTM 21 product, for the North American market. dcbelTM is the world’s only bidirectional supercharger featuring blackout power and solar charging. With dcbel, you can power your home and your life with the free, unlimited power of the sun, and use your electric vehicle’s massive battery to power your entire home during a mult-day utility grid blackout.

E.E: What are the ranges of traded products?

Dcbel: Our efforts are currently focused solely on the delivery of the high volume of pre-orders for dcbelTM in North America, but stay tuned for product announcements in early 2021!

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

Dcbel: We are active in four market sectors: 1) residential solar and storage 2) smart home energy 3) EV AC and DC home charging and 4) innovative utility power. Taken together they represent a $60B annual market with 20% CAGR.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

Dcbel: Individuals, families and communities want more control of their energy because it is central to their quality of life, resilience, independence and social conscience in the face of extreme weather events, pandemics, unreliable “big grid” services from governments, utilities, or corporations and escalating costs.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

Dcbel: This is really too broad a question for us to answer. In just the electric power and electric mobility sectors we see brilliant innovation just about every day. It is the breadth and the depth of the wave of innovation that should catch our attention. Electricity is a force of nature; it follows the laws of physics and the right innovations see rapid global adoption for the benefit of all humanity.
