INTERVIEW WITH DINOL

DINOL is the world’s leading system provider for corrosion protection materials, adhesives and sealants, fillers, sprayable noise protection materials and the associated application systems. The company is a subsidiary of the WÜRTH group since 2012 and employ 80 people at the company location in Lügde, Germany. Furthermore, 43 sales agents all around the world are responsible for the sales & marketing activities.

Interview with Björn Mensenkamp, Head of Marketing at DINOL GmbH.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company? 

Björn Mensenkamp: With our two brands, DINITROL and DEKALIN, we provide a range of products for corrosion protection, adhesives and sealants and noise protection. In addition to the automotive industry, we also offer our products for the areas of public mobility, transport, commercial vehicles, agricultural machinery, industrial plants, caravanning and boats. 

E.E: What’s the news about new products? 

B.M: DINOL GmbH is accepting responsibility and involves permanently further developing of its products with regard to environmental sustainability. 

That is why Green Tec products from DINITROL combine environmental compatibility and high effectiveness to protect vehicles and machines. With DINITROL’s water-based products DINITROL 977, DINITROL 958 or DINITROL 965 High Performance the value of vehicles and machines can be maintained in the long term and reduce maintenance costs. In addition, the DINITROL 430 Thermoseal UV is the new hot-curing acrylate-based sealant of the sustainable product line. It is OEM approved and can be used for sealing of overlaps and seams in truck or automotive construction and filling and sealing of minor irregularities before powder coating. 

Another product innovation is DINITROL 6251, a styrene-free and easily sandable 2-component polyester repair filler which brings a lot of advantages for the user like an excellent adhesion or a short drying time. 

E.E: What are the ranges of products? 

B.M: The product assortment of DINOL GmbH is divided in three parts. The main area „Protecting” comprises products meant for cavity sealing, underbody & stone chip protection, sound damping and rust conversion. 

Windscreen adhesives, sealants, pre-treatment and cleaner are offered in the area „Bonding & Sealing”. 

The third division is called „Repairing” – it comprises different types of putty that can be used for contouring, repairing and the application on different surfaces. 

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active? 

B.M: DINOL GmbH has been strongly represented in the European market with its products for decades. In addition, the sales agencies in the individual countries form a strong network and act as contact for the costumers on site. 

Currently we are resuming our activities on the German market and want to expand them further in the future. An important part of this development is the establishment of a nationwide network of DINITROL Rust Proofing Stations. 

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends? 

B.M: Sustainability has been THE topic for years and is also gaining momentum in the field of chemical production. Because of this, we are placing great emphasis on sustainability in production and also in our products. 

In the process of manufacturing, we try to conserve as many resources as possible and to create even better, lower-emission products. 

Furthermore, we place great importance on developing products that are e. g. free of solvents. 

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed? 

B.M: As already presented, the products of our Green Tec range are the biggest innovation within our offer. The product line includes both the environmentally friendly corrosion protection DINITROL 977 and the stone chip protection DINITROL 958. We also count the engine protection, DINITROL 965 high performance and the styrene-free putty DINITROL 6251 among our innovations. 

In the future, we will work more intensively on expanding this product line in order to offer a broad range in the three categories “Protecting, Bonding & Sealing and Repairing”. 

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023? 

B.M: For the year 2023, we expect major growth for the German market and an expansion of our market presence. In particular, we want to expand our cooperation with German companies in the industrial and vehicle construction sectors. 

Furthermore, we want to push growth within Europe and additionally strengthen our market presence in the international environment.
