Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
DOMAT: We provide a comprehensive range of hardware and software products and system solutions for building, industry, energy management control and measuring systems. We implement all the system solutions, from turnkey orders and design to operation. Of course, this is accompanied by regular service and our technical support.
The information security management system in our company is at a high level and all information is sufficiently protected against loss or misuse.
We passed certification according to ISO 14001 – environmental management system, also ISO 9001 – quality management for the development, production and distribution of systems for measuring, controlling and regulating ventilation, heating, air conditioning, energy systems and systems and other technological units.
Because we are aware of the importance of cyber security technologies, which is a widely discussed phenomenon today, we successfully recertified for ISO 27001 – the standard for the information security management system in the organization. It includes all assets from data, through paper documents, information and communication technologies, staff qualification development and technical protection against computer fraud.
Our customers and business partners can be sure that the entire information security management system is at a high level in our company and all information is sufficiently protected from loss or misuse.
E.E: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?
DOMAT: The most important HW products are mainly:
markMX – DDC controller, a free programmable process station with MPC5200 processor and Linux operating system. It is suitable for control of large installations (approximately 400 – 500 physical data points). It contains 1x Ethernet port, 2x RS485 interface, and 2x RS232 interface for expanding I/O modules. On the board there is a I/O mix of 16 AI, 32 DI, 8 AO, and 32 DO.

R091 – a serial converter that acts as a Modbus TCP server and web server and controls a DALI bus with up to 64 DALI devices. R091 is a multi master of the DALI bus, and provides the power supply for the bus. It also incorporates a web interface for manual entering of DALI commands including bus configuration and diagnostics commands.

FCR013 – a communicative controller of heating and cooling panels and an EC motors or a VAV damper. It measures temperature in the room using a room unit and it may either work autonomously, or be connected to a primary controller or SCADA.
UI905 – The room unit with CO2 sensor contains temperature sensor, NDIR CO2 sensor for carbon dioxide concentration measurement, optional humidity sensor, LCD and control knob for setpoint control and other settings. The binary output is controlled either on a remote basis, or as thermostat, hygrostat or CO2 controller. The units communicate over Modbus RTU / RS485 and they can be used as open system components with majority of building control system and controllers.
Wall compact process stations – Within the extension of application platforms for the Merbon system, we have established cooperation with the leading German manufacturer of components for electrical engineering and programmable PLCs. We launched these stations with the Merbon runtime under the name wall. The stations are programmable in the Merbon IDE environment.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?
DOMAT: Standard signals, interfaces, and communication protocols are used at all system levels. Therefore, the system is open for a wide range of integrated solutions. We supply complete range of control system components, such as peripherals, converters, room controllers, I/O modules, PLCs.
Apart from hardware products, we have developed a comprehensive family of tools and applications for energy management and control of building systems – Merbon Family. It consists of runtimes for various hardware platforms with editor (IDE), HMI applications like SCADA, web server, and mobile apps, fast database for data storage and ContPort, energy management system. This is how our customers receive a complete solution, yet open for integration with third-party systems at all levels.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
DOMAT: The market where we operate depends on construction production. The construction volumes and all related markets are affected by covid 19 currently, with material costs increasing. This may immediately hit some small projects, but large commissions are planned years ahead, and we hope that the recovery will come soon together with the increasing requirements for energy saving, renewables and the like.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
DOMAT: One of them are increasing cyber security requirements, and second is higher level of automation and integration a new technology as photovoltaics, batteries, or e-mobility. We are very active in innovating our products so that we keep up with these trends.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
DOMAT: I would like to mention here Merbon SCADA as a service. For plants where local SCADA is not required, the data may be deployed in a cloud provided by Domat, but if the customer decides to move to his own infrastructure later, it is possible at any time. This helps to allocate costs in the optimum way, and to scale the SCADA and databases according to the real needs of the plant and its operators. Also large and distributed plants are easier to maintain.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?
DOMAT: We all expect to be able to see our customers again face to face, be it on trainings or product introduction meetings. Domat puts the accent on personal relations, we appreciate when customers talk to us, so the feedback is what we really are looking forward to. Regarding sales volumes, there was a slight decrease against expected figures, but the high season for building controls is still ahead, and if I look at the projects in execution, I am very optimistic.
