Interview with Kostas Andreadis, Commercial Director at DOPPLER.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Kostas Andreadis: DOPPLER is an export-oriented company that has a significant global presence (Europe, the Gulf countries, CIS, MENA, and Africa) with UAE, North Europe, and Russia being our main markets (>50%).

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

K.A: Doppler offers a wide range of mobility solutions, enhancing the freedom of movement. For the company, developing and manufacturing such solutions, that utilize R&D, technology, design, and aesthetics -always in accordance with the surrounding requirements-, is of utmost importance.

For example, a helipad lift was installed at Dr Pixley ka-isaka Seme Memorial Hospital in KwaMashu, South Africa. In urban areas, often the best way to access the hospital in an emergency is by helicopter. The lift consists of a double heavy-duty frame driven by two direct-acting pistons. The cabin is fixed at the top frame, while the lower part is used to guide the lift when it rises through the roof of the building. The guide rails are installed inside the well under the rooftop of the building, while the well’s opening when the cabin is at the bottom floor level, is covered by a steel roof. This roof is secured on the lift’s car frame, assuring that the area’s strong winds do not affect its position when it rests on the rooftop or when it is drifted by the lift while rising. In this way, the building’s rooftop has no protrusions or other parts that may be dangerous to a safe helicopter landing or impede any scheduled maintenance works on the rooftop.

Also, Inclined lifts are specially designed to meet the requirements for conveying passengers or passengers and loads, traveling along guide rails that are inclined at an angle of between 15° and 75° in relation to the horizontal. They are separated from the surroundings by totally or partially enclosed wells, to protect people from the moving parts of the lift.

At each floor level, landing doors of any type can be provided (automatic sliding doors, swing doors, etc) while the vehicle is always equipped with a car door lock. The wall surfaces of the well can be imperforated of any type or/and perforated (according to EN ISO 13857:2008) in order to serve the users of the lift (e.g., observation lift in galleries or atriums or garden lifts). The well and the walkway (when it is necessary) are provided with permanently installed electric lighting granting an easy and safe inspection and maintenance work. Such a project is installed at Villa Four Winds Residences, Opatija, Croatia

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

K.A: The global market is divided into private and public sectors. Due to covid-19 and the huge increase in the prices of the raw materials, most of the projects in the public sector are postponed. However, the private sector is still going up, allowing Doppler to penetrate new markets worldwide. The meaning of Internationalization and Repositioning, as well as the need to become more appealing to new audiences, are the main targets of our company.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

K.A: The elevator industry includes the building of conveyor devices used to life materials or persons in a continuous stream. It is an essential and integral device used in commercial and residential buildings, as well as for industrial purposes. Lift manufacturers can be separated into two teams. The Big4 (multinational companies) and all the rest designers/manufacturers of complete elevator packages. Urbanization and population growth are predicted to add 2.5 billion people to the world’s cities by 2050. This will stimulate the construction industry, resulting in increased demand for elevators. Global Elevator Market is expected to reach USD 130.76 million by 2029, registering an increase of 3.50% during the forecast period of 2022-2029.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

K.A: Last year we were given a great opportunity to improve for the next day, so we strategically decided to focus on improving Customer Service by introducing new services and investing in new infrastructure to support the large volume of orders and the “global” need for elevators “.

The company has invested and continues to invest in the creation of the digital tool Cabin Configurator, an online 3D display of the elevator before ordering, in the general context of upgrading the web portal of customers.

Among other things, the company will proceed to the design of a new offer calculation platform (Online Epilysis Software), an application that allows the customer/partner to make offers online and receive a price and design of the elevator.

Also, the company will soon launch the Mobileapp application for an e-shop, where one will be able to buy elevator spare parts online via mobile or computer.

Concluding, projects were completed, such as the E-book of elevator errors and the development of the I.o.T. device to assist our partners in the part of the supervisory control of the operation of the elevator and at the same time in the reduction of the required time of repair of faults and visits to the installation site.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?

K.A: In the following years, DOPPLER aims to reinforce its presence in Australia, South America, and Central Africa, as well as the USA and Asia markets.

The company’s qualified electrical and mechanical engineers provide 24/7 technical support, as well as comprehensive and continuous training through live and online seminars. Considering adaptability and innovation key components of success, DOPPLER will continue to introduce new products and services.
