Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

ELONROAD: Short introduction:

Elonroad develops a high-tech electric road system – it auto charges electric vehicles when parked as well as when driving.

The solution is a conductive charging infrastructure designed for all electric vehicles (EVs), e.g., cars, taxis, buses and trucks, that operate in urban and highway conditions. EVs that connect to Elonroad obtain direct power drive energy; and charge their batteries to continue driving when disconnected from the electric road system (ERS). Elonroad goes beyond electrifying roads – it pioneers road digitization. Our ERS is equipped with IoT sensors and software that captures and analyses transportation data to generate intelligent feedback that interacts in real-time with moving and stationary vehicles.

Our vision is to electrify the entire transport sector and make fossil fuel a thing of the past, without increasing the demand of batteries. We will be the enabler of electrification of vehicles just like fiber has been for digitalization. We can contribute to reducing road transport CO2 emissions by up to 50% within a 10 year period.

Elonroad – Solution Overview

Purpose

Problem

There is a global urgency for transportation of people and goods to become sustainable.

Transport emissions is still in 2020 responsible for 24% of direct CO2 emissions, posing a major challenge to reducing emissions in line with the global development goals.

Battery prices, lack of raw materials and immature charging infrastructures are slowing down necessary development.

The uncertainty of charging infrastructure hinders electric vehicles to be fully implemented.

Even if batteries will become more efficient, there is still a lack of natural resources.

E.E: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?

ELONROAD: We are currently demonstrating our 1 km of electric road on a public road in Lund in Sweden. Elonroad is also developping a new version of an automatic fast charger of 50kW for distribution trucks in terminals. We are looking into different projects with prime movers in closed loops at ports and other closed loops.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

  • Onboard fastchargers.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

ELONROAD: It´s a new grooving market in charging infrastructure.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

ELONROAD: Electrifying all transport is a growing market in its early stage.

Large heavy trucks need a lot of batteries for their daily work. Electric roads lower the needs of big batteries and reduce time to stand still charging.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

ELONROAD: Our electric road and automatic fast charger is a new innovative product.

The electric rail has a lot of sensors and can add traffic safety and help self-driving vehicles to see further ahead.
