INTERVIEW WITH ENERCON INDUSTRIES

Enercon Industries is the global leader in induction cap sealing equipment. With over 40 years of experience, Enercon Industries is trusted by many of the largest manufacturers and biggest brands in the world for the performance of its equipment and the quality of its service.

Interview with Chris Mulcock, UK Sales Manager at Enercon Industries.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Chris Mulcock: Enercon’s induction cap sealing machines benefit customers across more than 100 countries. Every day our machines are trusted to seal over 200 million containers across the food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, healthcare, sports nutrition, chemical, agrochemical, automotive and household chemical industries. An induction seal provides a wide range of benefits for products including extended shelf life, leak prevention, tamper evidence and counterfeit protection.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

C.M: At the start of this year, the latest evolution of Enercon’s induction cap sealers launched across the UK and Europe. We launched three new models in our Super Seal range – the 300, 400 and 600. These machines provide added features and benefits for packagers and manufacturers, setting new standards for productivity and performance.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

C.M: Enercon Industries offers the most diverse range of induction cap sealing machines and technology on the market.

We have an induction cap sealer for every production environment – from a low volume, start-up or testing facility that is seeking a handheld sealing solution, right through to production lines that run at up to one hundred metres per minute. We can seal caps of all shapes and sizes, including from 15mm to 150mm.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

C.M: The market is currently very active and the last two years have produced record sales. It is looking like 2022 will continue this trend.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

C.M: Online retail or e-commerce sales increased significantly since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This market trend has increased the demand for induction cap sealing as Amazon and other online sales outlets specify that products, mainly liquids, need a double seal. They also recommend using a safety seal, such as an induction seal. As well as preventing leakages, an induction seal also provides a hermetic and tamper evident solution, which are important features for the consumer.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

C.M: Enercon Industries has always been at the forefront of innovation in the industry, and working closely with seal, cap and container manufacturers has allowed us to develop new products.

One of our biggest achievements has been working with the dairy industry in the UK. We started transforming the UK milk industry by introducing induction sealing to reduce costly leaks and product wastage. However, induction sealing has also provided additional benefits unknown to the average consumer. When you add an induction seal to a plastic milk bottle, you can lightweight the bottle and cap, reducing pack weight and carbon footprint.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?

C.M: Sales for 2022 are currently very strong and we expect this trend to continue for the remainder of the year. This growth is not only being driven by online sales, but also an increase in UK manufacturing.
