INTERVIEW WITH ETURNITY

Eturnity specializes in digital solutions along the life cycle of distributed energy systems such as PV systems, heating systems and e-mobility solutions. Along the whole life cycle there are a lot of time consuming steps. The company is able to save companies a vast amount of time.

The core of Eturnity’s activities is providing a business software that allows installation companies and energy utilities to manage their processes more efficiently and provide an excellent experience to their end customers. This will allow them to grow faster than the market. With Eturnity’s software solutions, companies of all sizes can manage the life cycle of energy systems like the giants in each sector like zolar, Wegatech or Thermondo in Germany.

If we look at the sales and consultation process, for example, those interested in a PV system want a full energy service provider who turns the consultation into a pleasant experience by clearly showing and comparing different variants. The customer wants more than just a sales pitch. 

With Eturnity’s software, they show installers, energy service providers and end customers that it is possible to provide automated, yet precise advice that addresses the needs of the end-customer. These are not necessarily of a purely economic nature.

This philosophy was the basis for building the software solutions at Eturnity. Their solutions consist of various tools for the solar, heating and e-mobility sectors. 

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

ETURNITY: Eturnity is a B2B SaaS software platform that combines white-label programs that focus on an automated, precise and customer-oriented process: For each step along the life cycle the Eturnity solutions cover the specific needs of our customers: For the lead generation phase we provide the Eturnity Solar Calculator, the Eturnity Heating Calculator or the Eturnity E-Mobility Configurator. To accomplish lead generation of multi-tech energy systems, like, for example, a combination of solar, e-mobility and heating systems, the Eturnity Configurator is a great choice. 

After the lead generation phase, all project information that was entered by end-users is transferred into the core platform where the fully automated indicative proposals can be fine-tuned with minimal effort and then be converted into finalized proposals. Eturnity is unique in this multi-technology approach that goes along the whole life cycle of distributed energy systems. 

Technical planning, design, dimensioning, cost calculation as well as simulations are integrated in one solution. The results are presented in customer-friendly offers. This increases the sales quota by 30% and saves up to 80% of the time that it typically takes for installers and energy utilities.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

ETURNITY: The latest innovation in our product portfolio is the Eturnity Configurator. This is a highly flexible lead generation / CPQ software that can generate complex bill of materials by just asking end-users a few simple questions. It’s ideal to sell E-mobility solutions or also multi-tech solutions of integrated energy systems that include solar electricity, heat generation, electric mobility and energy management. 

Users of the configurator are guided through a highly customizable questionnaire. Within two minutes, they receive all of the components and, if required, the prices for the e-charging stations, summarized in an easy-to-understand and easy-to-view PDF file. The companies using the configurator decide for themselves how many and which questions are asked. This can be implemented without any major programming effort. 

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

ETURNITY: The building sector is currently responsible for 36 % of CO2 emissions in the EU as a whole. In the European Union there are more than 200 million buildings that need to be equipped with decentralized, renewable energy technologies. This must happen within a short period of time in order to make sure we can keep the global warming temperature increase below 1.5°C.

The challenge in this market is that it’s highly fragmented and many of our potential customers still have a high share of manual processes. The impact potential in this market is very significant. This is what motivates us.

Within the next few years, we want to be in a position to achieve the target of a 10% overall cost reduction for decentralized energy systems through intelligent software solutions. 

The market is not only fragmented within countries, but regulations are also different on a country by country level. Thus, internationalization is not so easy to achieve. We have managed to build a platform that is highly adaptable and is ready to be used in 12 countries in Europe and also in Australia. However, we do not have distribution partnerships for all markets yet. In order to increase our impact, we are currently looking for local partners in various countries to establish distribution partnerships.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

ETURNITY: First and foremost: e-mobility is booming. According to Statista, there were around 10.9 million electric cars on the roads worldwide in 2020. That was over three million more than in the previous year. Also, in September 2021, more pure electric cars were sold than Diesel cars for the first time in history. This is a tipping point.

We are also seeing that a scarcity of resources is leading to higher prices, especially in the solar market. That’s something that hasn’t happened in the solar industry within the last decade and this also poses some new challenges 

On top of that, the high demand for decentralized renewable energy systems also causes a shortage of personnel. Be it in the stage of selling and consultation, planning, logistics & administration as well as installation, efficient business processes are needed to compensate for this shortage of personnel.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

ETURNITY: The innovation in our platform lies in the clean integration of internal and external processes that are key to building tech systems such PV systems, heating systems or e-mobility solutions. We have integrated a lot of cutting edge, innovative features but the full power of their integration can be felt if you just work with our solution and will realize that you can do more in less time and that your sales conversion will go up.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?

ETURNITY: We estimate that the trend towards decentralized, renewable energy systems will continue. In addition to that, we will continue to see a shortage of well trained personnel. A few months after the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, after many of the initial insecurities had cooled down, we have started to feel an ever growing need for solutions like ours.

In 2022, we will equip our products with some exciting additional features that will also enhance collaboration between different stakeholders in this market.
