INTERVIEW WITH FIELDPIECE

“If we can’t make it better for the technician in the field, we don’t do it”. At Fieldpiece, we believe that every HVACR professional in the field needs the best tools possible. We know what techs in the field need because we are out with them every day.

Fieldpiece was founded 32 years ago and has grown from a typical garage company into an organization with 118 professionals in both the USA and Europe. We have always focused on HVACR test & tools, like digital manifolds, vacuum pumps, and leak detectors. Today, Fieldpiece is the US market leader with 26,2% market share. In 2017, we have extended our global presence with our European Head Office and European Warehouse. We are proud to say that we have a team of 14 professionals in place, dedicated to the EMEA market.

E.E: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Fieldpiece: We offer tools for technicians that work in the HVACR industry. Our tools are specifically designed for the HVACR technician and focusses on their specific challenges. We are always looking for ways to make their work easier, faster and better.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

Fieldpiece: We offer a complete portfolio for everybody working in the HVACR industry. From electrical meters to vacuum pumps, recovery machines and scales, vacuum meters, and manifolds. Everything a HVACR technician needs.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

Fieldpiece: The most important trends currently are the challenges in labor force. We see more people retire than there are people ready to replace them. Many companies in the industry are looking for workforce but skilled personnel are hard to find. We also see a trend in rules and regulations, particularly focused on climate change and global warming. The F-gas regulation is a good example of this. In the upcoming years, the number of rules and regulations regarding emissions and refrigerants will only increase and become more important which means that tools must be suitable for these types of refrigerants as well. This is something we are constantly working on and bearing in mind when developing new tools or updated the currently available ones.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2022?

Fieldpiece: We expect the shortages in labor to increase and have a big effect on the availability of companies and people. This will have a big impact on new projects and the demand in the market will increase. As I mentioned before, we also expect new rules and regulations about refrigerants and working with refrigerants.
