INTERVIEW WITH GREENVALLEY INTERNATIONAL

GreenValley International Inc. (GVI), located in Berkeley, California, is a highly innovative company that specializes in 3D mapping technologies. GVI’s ability to offer entire hardware + software 3D surveying and mapping solutions is what sets them apart. GVI’s LiDAR and image technology solutions have been successfully applied across various industries such as powerline, forestry, mining, agriculture, construction, engineering, HD maps, and geography.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

GreenValley: Our main areas of activity include 3D scanning and modeling, UAV mapping, laser scanning, data processing and analysis, and GIS mapping. These services lead to improved industry-specific efficiency, cost savings, and better decision-making.

For instance, generating inspection reports can inform electric utility operations to manage vegetation, remove dangerous trees, and adjust electric transmission lines. Another example is creating digital-twin representations of real-world builds to generate reliable information for infrastructure life-cycle planning.

So far, GVI has customers in industries such as forestry, powerline, mining, and AEC, covering more than 137 countries and territories around the world.”

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

GreenValley: We are constantly working to develop new products and solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers.

We are introducing the third generation of Intelligent Autonomous Inspection LiDAR System for Powerlines. This new circular lidar system has 43% more scanning bandwidth and can generate point clouds with density of up to 300 points/㎡within 80m.

The system also features a built-in high-accuracy inertial navigation system, which ensures 10% better data quality through accurate navigation and positioning.

In addition, the system includes a 26 megapixel mapping camera that produces high-quality colored point clouds and orthophoto DOM results. This makes it an ideal choice for terrain mapping, forestry surveys, earthmoving calculations, and disaster response.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

GreenValley: GVI offers a wide range of advanced aerial, terrestrial, and mobile LiDAR survey and mapping hardware systems as well as cutting-edge software and data-based service solutions.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

GreenValley: The market where we are currently active is in the early growth stage. There is a strong demand for our services and products in the emerging market, particularly in the construction and infrastructure sectors. With established players and strong competition. However, we are confident that our advanced technology and commitment to customer service set us above our competitors.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

GreenValley: The market trends in our industry are driven by the increasing demand for more accurate and detailed data collection; there is also an increasing use of UAVs, drones and mobiles for mapping and surveying; and the growing demand for data analysis and visualization tools, as well as the integration of GIS mapping software into construction and infrastructure projects. We are constantly monitoring these trends and incorporating them into our product development.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

GreenValley: In recent years, there is a wide range of innovative products that are changing the way we capture, process and analyze spatial data. Here are some new products and technologies being developed to meet the needs of various applications and industries:

Mobile mapping systems use a combination of LiDAR sensors, cameras, and GPS technology to capture 3D data of the surrounding environment.

It is expected to play an increasingly important role in the development of self-driving cars and trucks, providing real-time, high-precision data on the road to enable safe and efficient navigation.

Mapping robotics are playing a growing role particularly in areas such as autonomous navigation and object recognition.

Virtual and augmented reality technologies are being used in the surveying and mapping industry to visualize and manipulate accurate 3D data for real-time tracking and interaction. These products enable users to explore virtual environments and interact with spatial data in new and innovative ways.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?

GreenValley: We are optimistic about the growth prospects for our company in 2023. We expect to see strong demand for our services and products, particularly in the construction and infrastructure sectors. We are also planning to expand our product range and explore new markets to continue our growth trajectory.
