Grob is a manufacturer of Screw Jacks, Electric cylinders, LinearChains, Screws. Engineering for Lifting Systems, designing special solutions in design department.

Interview with Philipp Schmalzhaf, Sales Manager at GROB GmbH

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Philipp Schmalzhaf: Delivering do machine builders who need a lifting movement that can easily be controlled.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

P.S:

  • Screw jacks up to 10t capacity now are aluminum die cast housings to safe weight
  • New electric cylinder completely in stainless steel, IP65 with fully integrated motor and limit switches

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

P.S:

  • Screw jacks cubic;
  • Screw jacks classic;
  • Screw jacks high duty;
  • High speed screw jacks;
  • Electric cylinder EZ;
  • MINI cylinder;
  • LinearChain.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

P.S: After having a little drop in the market, when Corona began, we now see a high order income for now about 6 months. Our market is very wide spread, because we only sell the product that does a linear movement. As soon as a machine needs a movement, they can possibly use our product. We have no concentration on one big branch.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

P.S: Big problem at the moment is to get materials in time. GROB has a stock that helps very much in this situation. Compared to competitors we are the quickest company in the market.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

P.S: Our LinearChain is quite a new product that many engineers are not aware off. The big advantage is, that with our chain you can push loads but you don’t need the space for a long spindle behind the drive housing. Compared to a screw jack, you would always need the same space behind the gear box for the spindle, when it is retracted. The chain can just be rolled up and is stored like this very easy.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2022?

P.S: Turnover will grow +5% in 2022.
