Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?
GRUETZNER: Automatic lubrication is our passion and core business. The wide range of accessories we offer enable a simple lubrication solution for all kinds of challenges – and the devices can be installed by the customers themselves. Our field staff develops individual, custom-built lubrication concepts on a daily basis.
E.E: What’s the news for 2021 about new products?
GRUETZNER: We are currently preparing market entry for our latest product G-LUBE VIB, an electromechanical lubricator that only activates itself while its surrounding is vibrating. And it does not require 24V power supply, so the installation is child’s play. This makes the device perfectly suitable for machines which don’t run 24/7 or are backup for emergency supply.
E.E: What are the ranges of products?
GRUETZNER: We cover the whole range of automatic lubricators – starting with gas-driven, independent and economic single-point lubricators and ending with monitored central lubrication systems.
E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?
GRUETZNER: Since the mid-1960s when the first automatic lubricators were invented in Germany the market actually never stopped growing.
In many countries the idea of automatic lubrication has not yet arrived completely, especially when you look at small businesses. There is still much potential of automation left to be discovered in those areas.
E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?
GRUETZNER: Automation, in my opinion, is a topic which cannot be ignored in a forward-looking company and its importance will even rise. As said, many companies still rely on manual lubrication, which results in high costs and lower machine lifetime. Industry 4.0 is on everyone’s lips; we are going one step further by offering lubrication 4.0.
And finally, we should not forget that everywhere in the world work safety and environmental protection luckily gain ground. Automatic lubrication can help to bring those concepts to life.
E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?
GRUETZNER: Our electromechanical lubricator LUB-S really is something special. Its condition can be monitored at any time, the operating pressure is switchable and despite its small dimensions it is powerful enough to feed splitters and distributors.
But we shouldn’t forget about classics – our best-seller is still G-LUBE, a gas driven, independent lubricator which is reliable and low-priced and therefore the perfect start to enter the field of automatic lubrication as an unexperienced user.
E.E: What estimations do you have for 2021?
GRUETZNER: 2020 was very challenging for all of us but I am sure this year will lead us out of the Covid crisis, so I am moderately optimistic. I definitely expect the demand to grow again in the next years – actually we even decided to move our headquarter in Nuremberg to a larger company building in summer and thus prepare us for the future.
Still the economy around the globe will need time to fully recover, but I think things are really looking up from now on.
