INTERVIEW WITH IQ-SPS

IQ-SPS GmbH is a specialist all around the projectile weaving machine. Since its founding in 2010 the company sees itself as partner for weaving mills worldwide. The company constructs and mounts specially designed upgrades for projectile weaving machines according to customers’ needs and also offers worldwide customer service, spare parts service and training courses.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

IQ-SPS: Our focus is on the upgrade of projectile weaving machines and our worldwide spare parts service.

In close cooperation with our customers we upgrade existing machinery to enable them to weave wider (from 430 cm to 1200 cm) or heavier fabrics (up to 15.000 N warp tension per meter of fabric) or even weave with completely new materials (e.g. wire). Here we can rely on our own design department and CNC production.

Our customers expect reliability, promptness and quality from our spare parts service. For this reason, we can fall back on a steadily growing range of parts immediately available from stock.

E.E: What’s the news for 2020 about new products?

IQ-SPS: In 2020, IQ-SPS launched an extremely robust weaving machine with a warp tensile force of up to 20.000 Newton per meter of fabric. It is available for widths from 190cm to 700cm, has an electronic brake, an extremely heavy warp release system with Siemens warp release motor and an extra robust fabric take-off system. The machine is also available with a warp beam in an elevated position.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

IQ-SPS: The projectile weaving machine has been in use in weaving mills around the world since the 1950s thanks to its reliability and versatility.

Up until a few years ago, however, almost exclusively fabrics for the conventional textile industry (e.g. denim fabrics) were produced on this type of machine.

Nowadays technical textiles are in the foreground. This is where IQ-SPS GmbH comes into play. Weaving mills that want to add new materials to their product portfolio can in many cases do this without the purchase of a new weaving machine, as our specialists can convert existing machines to meet the new requirements.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2020?

IQ-SPS: The expansion of the spare parts production in our company is being pushed forward intensively. We will therefore add further production machines to our existing machine park. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, IQ-SPS will be able to present a very positive result, as the flexibility and innovative strength of IQ-SPS has been well received by customers. These fast and very individual solutions help our customers – especially in the current situation.
