INTERVIEW WITH IZADI GROUP

Izadi Group started under “Izadi Mecanizados” brand more than 30 years ago. Its main activity was industrial machining. But, as the time went by, Izadi started to invest in more machines, more technology, and training to get a more skilled and specialized team. Nowadays, the company has grown up offering comprehensive services in machining, construction and repair of parts, equipment maintenance and assembly.

Thanks to using the latest technologies and machinery, Izadi can optimize manufacturing processes and generating synergies between their different business unit.

Interview with Beltrán Ybarra, Managing Director at Izadi Group & IZDIT.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Beltrán Ybarra: We offer a complete service in different areas of the machining industry:

Standard Machining. We manufacture new construction parts according to plans in medium and short series, being highly specialized in the manufacture of highly complex unit parts and processes. Also, we are experts in repairs, solving equipment operation problems both in the plant and urgent manufacturing of parts according to plans or samples. We work on reverse engineering in repair of parts, improvement of application specification and spare parts program.

There are 2 business lines within this service: Heaty Duty (Specialized in pieces of equipment for heavy industry with weights up to 80 tons. and dimension 14,000×5,500×3,000 mm. Offering machining and comprehensive service including casting/forging, machining, painting, component assembly, and MMC approval and control processes, as well) and High Precision (Development of engineering, manufacturing and assembly of components with high added value for aeronautical, space and defense industries under the Siemens NX9 environment in Mikron 5-axis continuous palletized machining centers. References in short series, prototypes and successful programs)

Basically, we can machine any type of part or component with high quality.

Exterior & interior carving (gears, ribs and inner figures): We carry out external and internal carvings according to DIN 3962, AGMA, ISO 21771 or ISO 6336 in different types of crowns and pinion shafts, augers, splines, ribs and keyways, as well as the grinding of flanks after heat treatment.

Laser. We have a robotic solution with external axes that provides great flexibility and high precision for various steel parts, both for quenching and for adding material.

Thanks to this laser cell, we can offer Laser Cladding (additive contribution by LMD, that allow us to have a high volumetric contribution of 15 kg/h based on the use of a high-power 8Kw laser), and Laser Hardening (that allow us to carry out special coatings, as well as the manufacture and repair of parts for industrial equipment. We have the capacity to harden any geometry of tooth profile and figure with gradient in layer and hardness).

Our own Metrology unit allow us to have every piece verified under certifications as ISO9001:2015, EN9100:2018 and JISQ9100:2016. Everything is documented after an exhaustive quality control during the manufacturing process on each and every part we manufacture. For that purpose, we have 3D MMC with dimensions of up to 5,000×3,000×3,000 mm, Blue Laser Scanner, Laser Tracker. We are able to verify parts and assemblies, thanks to our gear measurement capacity.

In addition to this service, we also offer measurement, verification, and quality reporting services to third parties working from parts to assemblies, including Gear Control.

Finally, our experience of more than 30 years in manufacturing, have allowed us to have launched a new business unit where we design, manufacture, assemble and install power transmission gearboxes. This unit is called IZDIT.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

B.Y: During 2022, our most innovative solution for transmissions and industrial gearboxes was launched, called IZDIT.

We design and build industrial reducers under a comprehensive approach between the different areas that interact in the process, being specialized in the integral management of the life cycle of gearboxes and power transmission elements.

Paper, Automotive, Naval, Wind, Rubber and Plastic, Mining, etc… there are many sectors requesting this kind of product, as they often need changes on the speed, torque on other characteristics of the energy to make it usable. At IZDIT, we are experts in designing, manufacturing, assembling and testing Gearboxes, Multipliers, Planetaries and Distributor.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

B.Y: We are capable to build different industrial gearboxes by type (Planetary, Helical, Orthogonal…), by design (coaxial, parallel axis…), or by application (Construction, Mining, Automotive, Chemical, Wind power…), just adapting to sector and customer needs.

Beltrán Ybarra, Managing Director at Izadi Group & IZDIT.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

B.Y: Any of the markets we work for are volatile and uncertain, due to the current global situation where there is not only a huge lack of raw materials but also a war. These circumstances make the cost production evaluation and project estimation as well are more and more complex.

The energy and innovation strategy that we have developed (for Izadi and IZDIT too) in the last years, give us some great competitive tools to face this uncertainty.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

B.Y: In terms of Industrial gearboxes, which is our main product recently launched in 2022, the expectations are very good, based on some reports.

According to We Market Research, Global Industrial Gearbox Market is expected to rise steadily through 2024. The figure that they show are quite impressive too: Industrial Gearbox Market reached USD 33.26 Billion in 2022. It is projected to reach USD 46.40 Billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 4.25%.

These expectations are also shared by other player, The business Research Company. According to its last report published in June 2022, the global industrial gearbox market size is expected to grow from $27.26 billion in 2021 to $28.42 billion in 2022 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.3%. The industrial gearbox market is expected to grow to $33.96 billion in 2026 at a CAGR of 4.6%.

Global Industrial Gearbox Market is projected to arrive at USD 39,030.2 million by 2030, developing at a CAGR of 4.6% from 2022-2030, affirmed recently Market Research Future in another report.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

B.Y: Stemming from our experience machining and manufacturing power transmission parts, in addition to boring casings and mounting assemblies, we have developed IZDIT, an innovative solution which offer advantages to our clients: 50% Reduction of maintenance tasks | 80% Corrective maintenance | 25% Reduction of electricity consumption.

We are different from other companies because we work on the 3 phases of the project: a) Design; b) Turnkey manufacturing, test bench and certification; c) and Comprehensive maintenance, detection, diagnosis and evaluation of faults.

All the project is done in our facilities, based in Renteria (Spain), which help us to be more efficient in terms of time and costs.

We could say that IZDIT is an innovative RMS solution for IIoT monitoring and analysis of the useful life cycle of bearings and gears.

E.E: What estimations do you have for the rest of 2022?

B.Y: At Izadi we have our own 2020-2025 Strategic Plan that guides us to achieve our objectives of sustainability, development and scalability.

During 2022, our efforts are pointed to IZDIT (related to manufacturing of industrial gearboxes) and Laser Cladding & Hardening, the two business units that we have launched few months ago. Looking ahead to 2023-2024, the expectation is that these two business lines we launched in 2022 will be consolidated, thanks to the good reception we are having in the market by providing better efficiencies in production processes.

Looking ahead to 2024-2025, the expectation is that the company will have 50% more human resources, and double the current turnover.
