Interview with Jesse Huff, VP Sales & Marketing at JAVAD GNSS.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Jesse Huff: The creation, manufacturing and sales of GNSS, products for applications including, Land Survey, Monitoring, Aerospace, and Reference Stations. JAVAD goes to market through both its global distribution partners and directly with OEM manufacturers in all industries.

E.E: What’s the news about new products?

J.H: JAVAD is launching in Q2 2023 a complete survey solution.  With a focus on ease of use and improved performance it has two new smart antennas the TRIUMPH-1M Plus and the TRIUMPH-3NR. The TRIUMPH-1M Plus is the next generation evolved from the market defining JAVAD 1M Smart Antenna.  It provides complete connectivity with UHF, Cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth which are all built in with no external communication antennas needed. It is a sleek and simple to operate full featured RTK base and rover.

The T3-NR is a small and light GNSS Network Rover with an integrated MEMS IMU designed for a full day of fieldwork. Paired with JAVAD J-Mobile Android™ data collection for data collection, the T3-NR easily connects to Real Time Networks for corrections to get GNSS RTK with IMU tilt compensation. With 25 hours run time on a single charge, the T3-NR provides all-day operation without needing a battery swap or recharge. All of this with a receiver that will fit into your shirt pocket.

To provide seamless connection from field to the office two new field computers have been developed to accompany the new receivers. Designed for challenging conditions two options are available – the Victor-2 that comes with an inbuilt keyboard and the Victor-4  a 8-inch tablet. Both products run the JAVAD J-Mobile for Android™ data collection software optimized with user-friendly workflows and industry-standard menu structures for immediate use with minimal training.

The JAVAD complete solution caters for all  survey requirements with receivers, field computers and data collection software that provide a modern solution to work smartly in the field across a range of professional surveying needs and in challenging conditions.

E.E: What are the ranges of products?

J.H: JAVAD GNSS products span Smart Antennas, Receivers, Enclosures, Field Computers, data collection software,  radio communications for UHF, VHF, SS/HS and OEM solutions entire product line.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

J.H: JAVAD GNSS products are used globally providing PNT solutions to industries such as land management, construction, mining, oil and gas, forestry and Aerospace launch vehicles, scientific research and commercial UAVs.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

J.H: For our OEM Aerospace and Defense markets signal interference management is an increasingly important requirement. Another continuing trend is the important of Size, Weight, Power and Cost (SWaP-C) as launch vehicles and UAV’s require greater performance and regular design updates. Ensuring all of these criteria are met is becoming increasingly expected.

For our GNSS survey products the importance of ease of use through thoughtfully designed hardware that ensure form and function make the user experience as easy and as enjoyable.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

J.H: Innovation is developing something that a market was unaware they needed.  This can be a simple hardware change, or it can be complex software algorithms.  For example, with our Aerospace customers our engagements are highly strategic which results in our products enabling new innovative launch vehicle capabilities and successful orbital missions.

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2023?

J.H: The overall geospatial market is growing at 12% CAGR over the coming years and we see monitoring as a significant market segment opportunity. Utilities including renewables, transportation infrastructure and environmental monitoring are some of the areas we believe will grow faster than the overall CAGR market rate.
