INTERVIEW WITH KONGAMEK

Kongamek is a family owned company founded in 1987 by Stig Haglund and his son Paul. The company has its roots in a mechanical workshop located in Konga, in the middle of the forest in Småland. Today a generation later, the business is run by Paul’s children, Jonathan and Johanna.

Easy Engineering: What are the main areas of activity of the company?

Kongamek: Scandinavia’s market leading companies within material handling products, with the widest range in Europe.

E.E: What’s the news for 2020 about new products?

Kongamek: We have been focussing on three points, ergonomically trolleys, sustainability trolleys and a series of trolley that we changed the colour from the products classic colour to a more modern black colour.

E.E: What are the ranges of traded products?

Kongamek: Our stainless steel trollies and roll containers are sourced from other manufacturers.

E.E: At what stage is the market where you are currently active?

Kongamek: In general, our key markets are quite mature. And for the year it started well, and then of course with the COVID-19 it had its ups and downs, but now we are looking forward and hope the last couple of months of the year will be positive.

E.E: What can you tell us about market trends?

Kongamek: We see that the demand for ergonomic products are increasing and that goes for sustainability as well. Another trend is that the customer wants very quick deliveries.

E.E: What are the most innovative products marketed?

Kongamek: Most of our products is quite simple, but we have for example one trolley that is self-levelling and where you can set the weight in intervals, this is our KM4202-F-ERGO (http://www.kongamek.com/perfionproducts/ergonomiska-vagnar/butiksvagnar-baf3d6a6/?variant=KM4202-FB-ERGO)

E.E: What estimations do you have for 2020?

Kongamek: We are seeing positive on 2020 despite of the COVID-19. We have done what we can and find other ways to get our products out. For example, we have increased our presence in social media like Facebook and LinkedIn.
